As Gala Week came to an end it was fitting to recognise those that had done so well representing the club in the SIBA Nationals this year.

So once again well done to Blair Gourley winning the National U21 Singles and well done to Ellie Henry and Ann Milton on their silver medal in the Ladies 4 bowl Pairs.

Well the final night of Gala Week certainly didn't disappoint.

First up saw a family battle in the Gents Championship as Mark Biondi took on Blair Gourley. It was Mark that did most of the leading in the game but Blair did manage to get ahead at 8-7 and 18-17 but both times, Mark found an answer to run out 21-18 winner.

The Ladies Championship was a battle of team mates with Amanda Easson taking on Maureen Morrison. Similar to the seniors final, Maureen got off to a slow start and Amanda took full advantage racing into the lead. It looked like Amanda's play was going to see her run away with the title but Maureen continued to fight but Amanda managed to see the game out 21-17.

In the Ladies Triples, it was Helen Nairn, Jenny McAllister and Kimberley Bruce that got the blistering start but as we have come to expect, the team of Laura Prophet, Ellie Henry and Ann Milton cant be written off as they got within 3 shots going into the last end. With one bowl to come, Ann's team lay the 3 shots needed for a tie break but a fantastic final draw by Kimberley meant the title belonged to Helen, Jenny and Kimberley.

The Gents rinks saw the team of Kieran Alexander, Ally Clarke, Ethan Alexander and Alan McDonald trade shots through out the game with Dave Hanlin, Iain Howe, Graham Ewart and Vince Stewart. The game was tied numerous times through out the 17 ends but with 3 ends to play Alan's team scored the decisive count to edge the game.

Our final game of Gala Week was the Gents 4 bowl pairs where John Nicholson and Daryll Spark came up against a formidable display by Alan Lowe and Mark Lowe. No matter what John and Daryll did, Alan and Mark had a response and the Lowe brothers stretched out to a good lead and never looked like losing.

Once again well done to the winners and hardlines to the runners up.

A big thank you to everyone who has given up time this week to make Gala Week happen and a special mention to Michael MacColl as official photographer and creator of the daily fixture cards.

The drama of Gala Week just keeps coming.

Our first game tonight was the Ladies Senior Singles where Greta Gall got a dream start to sit with a 7-1 lead but at this point Maureen Morrison found her range and came back to take a good lead and despite Greta's efforts, she could not stop Maureen winning the title.

The other Singles game of the evening was our Under 25 Singles where Alan McDonald caught the pace of the carpet first to find himself 9-2 up but Andy Lawrence slowly chipped away to get back to 9-8 but at this point Alan found another gear to storm to the win.

On rink 5 it was the Ladies 4 bowl pairs where our National Pairs Runners up, Ellie Henry and Ann Milton started strongly and no matter what their opponents of Amanda Easson and Susan Myles did, Ellie and Ann had an answer for it and remained in the lead through out the game.

In the Senior Mixed Pairs there was very little between the pairs of Laura Prophet and Ian Hendry and Norrie Robertson and Tricia McWalter until the 11th end when Laura and Ian scored a 5 but Norrie and Tricia didn't panic and managed to force an extra end where they scored the decisive shot to get across the line.

The final game of the night was an absolute cracker of a game where the lead changed hands several times and with 1 end to play, the team of Jamie McKelvie-Donnan, Andy Moir, Brian Smith and Ronnie Duell held a slender one shot lead. Despite this, the four of Keith Dyer, John Wade, Alan Lowe and Mark Lowe found the 2 shots needed to win the final game of the night.

Well done again to all the winners and hardlines to the runners up.

Join us tomorrow night for the last night of Gala Week with another 5 great games.

Day 4 and another 5 games to enjoy at 6.30 tonight.

Night 3 of Gala week saw a bumper 5 games to entertain the big crowd.

The first game off the green was the Gents Triples. It was a strong start by Andy Cochrane, Willie Milne and Jimmy Milne as they raced out to a 15-2 lead and it proved too much for Kieran Alexander, Ethan Alexander and Willie Short as Andy, Willie and Jimmy completed the double of Gents and senior triples.

The next game was the final of the Friday Night pairs with Michael MacColl and Blair Gourley getting the flying start in this one but back to back threes for Grant Armstrong and Alan McDonald saw them get the score back to 16-12 but a run of 4 singles was enough to see Michael and Blair across the line.

In the Ladies rinks it was a very similar story where Amanda Easson, Georgia Bugden, Maureen Morrison and Susan Myles got the strong start to race out to a 15-4 lead but credit to Irene Davidson, Greta Gall, Tricia McWalter and Lynn Short who battled away to cut the deficit. A timely six in the 2nd last end finally put paid to the comeback as Amanda, Georgia, Maureen and Susan claimed the title.

Our second last game was the Gents Senior pairs between Colin Craigie and Ronnie Duall and Mike Crooks and Brian Morris. This was a pretty even contest with never more than a few shots between the teams but it was always Colin and Ronnie that kept their noses in front to lift the trophy.

The final game on the carpet was the mixed triples where the team of Christine Cochrane, John Wright and Brian Smith shot out the blocks to lead 8-1 after 4 ends. Despite this set back, Dave Milton, Colin Gourley and Ann Milton slowly chipped away at the lead and found themselves 13-11 up going into the last end. It all came down to Brian's final bowl but he didn't quite get the right connection allowing Dave, Colin and Ann to win the last final of the night.

Once again another night of great bowls, well done to the winners and hardlines to the runners up.
