It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our long-standing Core Karate students, Kaine Kitson, who peacefully passed away at home on Sunday 14th June at 7:23am after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Kaine joined Core Karate on 16th September 2013 at just 8 years old, alongside his older brother Zachary, younger sister Kacey-Jo, and his father Steve.
From the moment he started his karate journey, Kaine showed dedication and determination. He achieved his Orange Belt (9th Kyu) on 14th December 2013, before progressing through 8th Kyu and 7th Kyu. On 25th April 2015, he proudly achieved his 6th Kyu Green Belt.
Shortly afterwards, in May 2015, Kaine was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Following surgery and many difficult treatments, Kaine fought with incredible bravery and was eventually given the all-clear at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. True to his character, he returned to karate and continued to progress through the grades.
Sadly, Kaine’s cancer later returned. However, he still carried on the “Never Give Up, Never Give In” spirit.
Kaine was one of the bravest young men we have ever had the privilege to know. Despite everything he faced, he remained positive, courageous, and an inspiration to those around him.
Tomorrow evening at 6:00pm, at The Link Academy, Netherton, we will hold a minute’s silence in Kaine’s memory before training begins. All are welcome to join us as we pay our respects.
Kaine will always be a part of the Core Karate family. He will be loved, remembered, and missed by everyone who knew him. We know he will always be with us in our training.
