Coaches like this ⭐️🀩

That’s a wrap on the youth league and a huge thank you Amy & Ciaran our u8 & u9 coaches who give up their free time several times a week to make sure these boys kick a football!

Our priority at killough football club is its youth and we are striving to have even more teams in the years to come, this year we were fortunate enough to get Ciaran through is NCC certificate with the IFA and next year we hope to have all coaches trained to this level.

A huge Thankyou to James, Matthew & Sean Paul for covering weekend games and stepping in when the guys needed a hand.

Onwards and upwards for the youth of Killough with the introduction of an u13 team next season.

In a massive day for the club and the village, Killough’s men delivered in style yesterday, securing the league title with a cracking 3–1 win over Downpatrick in a proper top-of-the-table soccer clash.

Right from kick-off, Killough were on it. Sharp passing, strong in the tackle, and playing with real purpose, you could tell they fancied the job. It wasn’t long before Jacko got them up and running either, firing home a quality opener that had the crowd buzzing early on.

The pressure kept building, and inside the first ten minutes it was two. Decky Looney finished well after more good work, and at that stage Killough were flying and looking full of confidence.

Just before the break though, they switched off for a moment and Downpatrick took their chance, pulling it back to 2–1 and giving themselves a lifeline heading into halftime.

Any nerves didn’t last long. Killough came out strong again in the second half, back in control and moving the ball well, showing why they’ve been top of the league. They kept Downpatrick at arm’s length and made sure there’d be no slip-up.

The goal that sealed it came through Tata who finished it off nicely to make it 3–1 and all but guarantee the title.

A big mention has to go to Liam Mitchell (big Mitch) who was outstanding at the back and deservedly picked up Man of the Match. Solid as a rock and leading by example all day.

When the final whistle blew, the place lifted. Hundreds turned out to back the lads, the noise was brilliant, and the celebrations said it all. WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE AND WHAT A VILLAGE!!

Thankyou to Downpatrick FC for a great game πŸ‘πŸ»
