Killymoon Rangers FC

Killymoon Rangers FC Founded in 1971. Cookstown's Oldest Football Club. First team competing in the Irish League 4th Tier, Ballymena Provincial Intermediate League.

Reserve team competing in the Mid Ulster 2nd division. Killymoon Rangers were established in 1971 and is the oldest football club in Cookstown by a considerable number of years, with over 50 years of history. Originally formed to play in the Cookstown Street League, Killymoon joined the Mid Ulster Street League soon after. In July 2008 they were promoted to the IFA Championship. The club played in

Championship 1&2 of the Irish League for 6 consecutive seasons. In 2014, Killymoon were relegated to the Ballymena Intermediate League, where they reached the semi-final of a league cup before being beaten in extra time by Ballynure. In 2017, Killymoon opted to play in Division 2 rather than the Intermediate League, with the objective of rebuilding and bringing some silverware to the club. This move proved to be very successful, the club had an enjoyable season, winning promotion from Division 2, winning the clubs first league title, and also reaching a cup final. In the year that followed Killymoon finished joint top of Division 1 and also relaunched its reserve team who won their respective league and a league cup in the process. The club continues to go from strength to strength, and has aspirations to move back into Intermediate football if the upcoming seasons proves as successful as last season.

FULL TIME RESULT

Trailing 1-0 at half time today’s second half performance was the definition of a team who wanted it more 💪

Donaghy hassled all game and got his just reward when he equalised before McElhatton’s rampaging run smashed home to lead. The visitors scrambled home a dubious offside goal and it was looking like two points dropped before big Caleb Robb rose like a salmon to score the winner in stoppage time!!
