🎾 Rusty Rackets starts this Wednesday! 🎾

There’s still time to join our brand-new Rusty Rackets course at Barnard Castle Lawn Tennis Club.

Whether you’re completely new to tennis or haven’t played for years, these relaxed and friendly sessions are designed to help you get back on court, improve your skills, and enjoy the game.

A true hidden gem right here in Lanchester, our grass courts are ready for the new season and open for play for both existing and new members.

💜 she thrives: Meet Amelia-Rose Symm 🎾

At just 11 years old, Amelia-Rose Symm is already making a name for herself in tennis and inspiring other girls across County Durham through her dedication, talent, and love of sport.

Her journey is a brilliant example of what she thrives is all about - building confidence, resilience and wellbeing through movement, while showing what can be achieved through passion and determination. 💛

Amelia-Rose’s achievements already include:

Ranked 12th nationally in her age group
British National Grass Court Champion (U11) 2025
Multiple regional championship wins
Representing Durham & Cleveland at county level
Reaching the final 16 at her first European tournament
Selection for national training camps and specialist coaching in France

She has also attracted national attention, with features from BBC and ITV, as her tennis journey continues to go from strength to strength.

Amelia-Rose’s story shows how being active can open doors, create opportunities, and inspire the next generation.

Thanks to funding from Point North , we’re excited to offer a range of FREE physical activity sessions during the Easter holidays & after school.

These sessions are open to young people aged 8–17 👟

Young people can take part in:
🤸 Gymnastics sessions
🎾 Racquet Sports sessions
🏫 After School Club

All activities are completely free, and to ensure fair access, each young person will be allocated one activity.
