Bann Rowing Club travelled south this weekend for the long journey to the Dublin Metropolitan Regatta at Blessington Lakes, enjoying a fantastic day of racing, sunshine, and team spirit.
The weather was beautiful throughout the regatta, although the windy conditions made the course challenging at times and ensured every crew had to work hard from start to finish.
There were some excellent performances across the board, starting with the WJ18 Quad who rowed strongly to claim 3rd place overall after a very competitive race.
In the MJ18B 1X events, Ethan produced a superb performance to finish in a close 2nd place, while Tom also raced well to take 4th.
The MJ18A 1X saw another brilliant showing from Bann, with Harry finishing 2nd overall, narrowly ahead of Nathan in 3rd by just 0.5 seconds, while Thomas crossed the line in 5th.
Faye took on her first ever 2000m race in the WJ18B 1X and rowed brilliantly to secure a fantastic 2nd place finish. All this despite the pre-race nerves π
The doubles crews also impressed, with Ethan & Tom racing hard to place 2nd in the MJ18B 2X, while Nathan & Thomas matched that result in the MJ18A 2X after another excellent race.
The highlight of the regatta was saved for the final race of the day when the WJ18 4 delivered an outstanding performance to bring home Gold for Bann Rowing Club β a fantastic way to end the weekendβs racing.
Away from the water, the atmosphere throughout the day was incredible. Bann certainly brought the energy and positivity with them, with plenty of fun between races including our own DJ, art lessons π, bubbles, gymnastics, and quizzes keeping everyone entertained all day long.
After a long but hugely enjoyable day, it was time to load the trailer and begin the late Saturday night journey home.
A massive thank you must also go to Autozone Coleraine for the loan of a towing vehicle which made the trip possible.
