What a fantastic day for Bann Rowing Club at Athlone Regatta yesterday, with glorious sunshine accompanied by a brisk breeze that made for some challenging racing conditions on the water.

Our junior men rose to the occasion superbly, taking on some very strong opposition and producing a series of excellent performances throughout the day.

These results are a testament to the hard work, dedication and determination shown by all of our athletes and coaches throughout the season. Competing against such high-quality crews, our rowers represented Bann Rowing Club with pride both on and off the water.

After the racing had finished, the team decided that the perfect way to round off a brilliant day was with a refreshing dip in the lough! Not content with going in alone, they even managed to persuade a few of the coaches and parents to join them for the post-regatta swim – a fitting end to a memorable trip to Athlone. πŸ˜€πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to the coaches, parents and supporters who continue to make these experiences possible. Onwards to the next regatta!

Bann Rowing Club via our head coach Geoff and master rower Charlie recently gave a taster session on the Ergs to some of the pupils at Dominican College. It was great to see the enthusiasm and willingness to try something new.
Our Learn to Row summer scheme builds on these skills.

We had another great day at Belfast Sprints hosted by BRC. The changeovers and racing was fast and furious with plenty of action out on the water keeping everyone entertained throughout the day. Bann had wins in the following categories:
WJ14 4X+ πŸ…
WJ 15 4X+ πŸ…
WJ 15 2X πŸ…
MJ 15 4X+ πŸ…
MJ 15 2X πŸ…
MJ 15 2X πŸ…
Novice MM 8 πŸ…
The WM 8 had the closest race of the day which resulted in a dead heat so we'll let them have a πŸ… as well for maximum effort πŸ˜€.
There were also other crews who made it through to their respective Finals but lost out to faster opposition.
A massive thanks to all the coaches, parents and helpers who made the day such a success.

Bann Rowing Club travelled south this weekend for the long journey to the Dublin Metropolitan Regatta at Blessington Lakes, enjoying a fantastic day of racing, sunshine, and team spirit.

The weather was beautiful throughout the regatta, although the windy conditions made the course challenging at times and ensured every crew had to work hard from start to finish.

There were some excellent performances across the board, starting with the WJ18 Quad who rowed strongly to claim 3rd place overall after a very competitive race.

In the MJ18B 1X events, Ethan produced a superb performance to finish in a close 2nd place, while Tom also raced well to take 4th.

The MJ18A 1X saw another brilliant showing from Bann, with Harry finishing 2nd overall, narrowly ahead of Nathan in 3rd by just 0.5 seconds, while Thomas crossed the line in 5th.

Faye took on her first ever 2000m race in the WJ18B 1X and rowed brilliantly to secure a fantastic 2nd place finish. All this despite the pre-race nerves πŸ˜€

The doubles crews also impressed, with Ethan & Tom racing hard to place 2nd in the MJ18B 2X, while Nathan & Thomas matched that result in the MJ18A 2X after another excellent race.

The highlight of the regatta was saved for the final race of the day when the WJ18 4 delivered an outstanding performance to bring home Gold for Bann Rowing Club β€” a fantastic way to end the weekend’s racing.

Away from the water, the atmosphere throughout the day was incredible. Bann certainly brought the energy and positivity with them, with plenty of fun between races including our own DJ, art lessons πŸ˜€, bubbles, gymnastics, and quizzes keeping everyone entertained all day long.
After a long but hugely enjoyable day, it was time to load the trailer and begin the late Saturday night journey home.
A massive thank you must also go to Autozone Coleraine for the loan of a towing vehicle which made the trip possible.
