The Ballet Tendu.

It’s easy to think the exercise is all about the working leg (the one moving). But actually, it’s just as much (if not more) about the standing leg… the one holding you up. (The foundations of a building… if we are talking construction terminology here 😆)

Here at Le Barre, we are educating you to activate and understand your stabilising muscles. So you understand how to move, not just what to move.

Last week, our lovely client Ellie from Counsellor | Adults & Couples | ADHD & Autism Specialist came into the studio to talk to us about neurodivergence and how we can make our teaching and classes more neuro-affirming and neuro-aware. We are so pleased and proud that our studio is a safe space for so many and we are looking forward to implementing some new techniques and non-negotiables in our classes to make each session enjoyable for all 💫

Tell me you’ve been doing Pilates without telling me…😜

One of the biggest differences between true Pilates technique and other methods of exercise is the deep muscle engagement and alignment.
Here you can see the ribcage melting down into the trunk, meaning the re**us abdominis is properly engaged, the spine and pelvis find neutral and the glutes engage.
What does that all mean? It means we are able to move safely, with lots of support from our deep stabilising muscles, preventing injury and providing power!

Pilates is a method built on deep connection and understanding, taught by professionals.
