Massively pleased for these awesome brothers today 😁 William & Matthew have had a few years off from the tournament scene, but both came back strong today! 💪🏻👊🏻

They’ve only been training with us for a few months, so I can’t take credit for all their awesomeness, but I was super proud to be coaching them today.

William battled to 1st place in the -140cm points section, earning a National Champion title for himself.

Matthew took a respectable 3rd place in the -18yrs +70kg section, having narrowly missed out on just 1 frustrating point in his first bout. He then stepped back on the mats for his Continuous category, which was an absolute war! 💥 I know plenty of adults who wouldn’t have taken those hits so I think he did himself proud 👊🏻

Quite a nostalgic day for me, being back in the same venue that dominated most of my teenage years and plenty of my 20s too! Great day. 😁

And also pleased that I didn’t get vomited on… but it was very close, several times 😝😁🤮😵

Sparring is without doubt the most fun part of training! Change my mind!

Controlled and respectful semi-contact points fighting, means you rarely injure each other, but you still get a real sense of battle and competition. We all get to turn up to work or school the next day still looking gorgeous 🤩

Putting all your moves together and finding your own unique ‘fight personality’ is an experience all martial artists should enjoy.

35 minutes of “1st to score” sparring… but I put my 10yr old in charge of the camera with no brief. My bad. 😞 Results were 35 seconds of usable footage 🤷🏻‍♂️

I landed some sweet head kicks too, honest 😉

Absolutely loved sparring with you guys tonight. But yeah I’m as blind as a bat when I take my contacts out 🫪 so I think I messed up the end-of-session group-selfie ??? 🤣🤪😵‍💫 I can use Jedi Force to fight, but not to control a camera 😝
