Last night was our end of season du, fantastic weather for it☀️🍻
Few sore heads and one singed head 🫣

Few of us went to Kathmandu for a all you can eat curry buffet, where Barrsy smashed his personal best seeing off 5 plate fulls😳🤣

Headed back to Woody for some serious supping🍻
Mayo was presented with both managers and players POTY awards👏

Dingull also got his hands on a trophy, bellend of the year. Well deserved mate🤣🔔🔚

We look forward now to next season, great group of lads we’ve got (unless you’ve played against us you probably think different🤣)

Up the Woody🌳❤️

FT: Carr Vale 2-2 Woodthorpe Inn FC

We gad the chances today to get all 3 points, the Carr Vale keeper made 3/4 brilliant saves👏 despite us playing some good football it wasn’t enough.

We started horribly. 2 mins in a ball over top finds the Carr Vale man who was wiped out by our 3rd stand in keeper of the season Dyl🤣
Everyone thought it was a penalty and red card, however Ralph saw it different… gave a free kick and a yellow card.
Carr Vale scored from the resulting free-kick, may as-well of been a peno🤷‍♂️

Not long after another ball over the top caused us trouble, the Vale man sent a cross in which flew over everyone into the bottom corner🤦‍♂️.

We had some decent chances but struggled to create and 2 chances for Vale had us trailing by 2 at the break.

We eventually got a goal. Caunty knobbed one in to half the deficit.
We should have had a couple more, Deano forcing the opposition keeper to make 2 worldy saves
Eventually with a minute or so left on the clock the ball fell to Lats whose shot took a nick off the defender to take it under the Vale keeper to make it 2-2🙏

Unfortunately today’s result means Courage pip us to 2nd place, a disappointing end to what’s been a good season for us.

Goalscorers - Caunty and Lats

MOTM - Deegan, excellent today👏

We go again next season, whatever division we’re in…
Hopefully we’ll retain the majority of our squad, a great bunch of lads (except Dingull). It’s been an absolute pleasure this season❤️

FT: New Houghton 3-1 Woodthorpe Inn

Unfortunately we came up short Today in a big match at the top of the table.

First half was brilliant from us. Defended great and took our chance when it came, a truly shocking corner from Pebble somehow pea rolled its way to Loz who was left completely free to tap the ball in.
What else do you expect from Loz, one game every 6 months from our midfield maestro and he always gets a goal🤣

Few great saves from Barrsy really kept us ahead going into HT 1-0 up.

2nd half started the same, couple chances for either side but eventually after 60 mins Houghton got their goal, then another…. And then another🤦‍♂️
Seemingly we fell apart, our heads dropped and their tails were up with the league title up for grabs.

Full time whistle came and with that any remaining hopes of us winning the league were sadly gone.
Speaking of… congratulations to New Houghton on winning the league. Fully deserved lads👍
2 great games between the sides this season, and thanks for the hospitality post game👌

We look forward to our final game of the season next week away at Carr Vale❤️

Goal scorer - Loz

MOTM - Harry👌

FT: Hasland 1-4 Woodthorpe Inn👊

Last night we made the short trip to Hasland school, despite only having 10 players confirmed on the morning of the game we managed to have 16 for kick off, midweek games eh🤦‍♂️

Appreciate all the boys who either started their night shifts late or finished work early to make sure we had the squad❤️

An absolute horrific start, 5 mins in after barely seeing the ball Hasland punted it long, wind carried it over our defenders and the Hasland forward was first to react and put it away😳

It didn’t get any better for us, unfortunately our keeper Stu pulled up with an injury 25 mins in meaning Mayo had to go between the sticks.

We eventually got our goal after numerous chances, Danny Caunt got us level before the break after some great football down the right, great strike to finish the move off… 1-1 at HT.

2nd half was a stressful one for us🤣 Hasland sat deep, defended well but chance after chance squandered from us🤦‍♂️
Somehow we weren’t awarded a penalty on the 65th min, the Hasland skipper showed off some serious black belt karate skills, sent Deano flying into the air with a impressive fly kick inside the box… nothing given😳.

We eventually got our goals in the last 10 to seal all 3 points😅…

Danny Caunt got his 2nd of the evening, well taken goal from the edge of box again.
Our two centre halves linked up for the 3rd, loose ball from a corner, sent back in with a beautiful cross from Dingull found Fats at back stick who turned it goalwards best of the night 👌
Deano ended what’s probably his longest game streak without a goal (3 games🤣). Brilliant finish taking him to 21 for the season👀

Overall not a bad performance just lacked end product, made it much harder than it needed to be😅
Fair play to Hasland however, defended well for 80 mins. Good luck for rest of season lads👍

Motm - Caunty👊

Disappointing result for us today, 2-2 draw away at Brimington.

We started well, had a few chances but we finally broke the deadlock and went 1 up. Lats finding back of the net, again with his supposedly weaker left foot🤣🤷‍♂️

But we went sloppy after that. Letting the ball bounce from a GK and Brim capitalised, through 1 on 1 buried their chance. Flag was up for offside but the ref wasn’t interested 🤦‍♂️
5 mins later fats really went from hero to zero, ref judged him to have pulled the Brim lad down and awarded a penalty and of course they put it away to make it 2-1🙄

HT came. We knew we had to step it up, despite having more of the ball and better chances we trailed at the break.

We were awarded a penalty with 15 to go, handball by the Brim defender and of course set piece maestro Danny Caunt buried it… game on.

Chance after chance in the last 10. Lack of end product and just nearly moments didn’t quite get us a winner and the game ended 2-2.

Big 3 games remaining, we also need some results to go our way if we have any chance of the title🙏

Big thanks to Brim for putting food on in pub after, best of luck for remainder of the season lads👍

Goalscorers - Lats and Caunt

MOTM - Caunty.

Bank holiday weekend, 3 points and Stu🐐 back keeping a clean sheet for the Woody boys, if Carlsberg did Sundays eh😮‍💨

We faced Chesterfield town Res and got the job done even with a few sitters missed (looking at you Chris😳🤣). However the overall performance was bang on. Kept our opposition quiet for 90 mins and controlled the game completely.

Just a little disclaimer from us… Don’t worry if you were on Holmebrook valley park this morning and heard our very own Tom Barrs. Shouting non stop and sounding completely delirious from the sidelines after his nasty blow to the head last week, he’s always like that🤦‍♂️

We eventually got our goal, Danny Caunt netted his 9th of the season (1st from open play🤣). Fantastic finish from a loose ball beat the keeper at his near post👊

2nd half was the same. We hit the post 3 times, Rick smashed one off the bar and a couple decent blocks/saves kept the score at 1-0.
Eventually got our 2nd with 15 to go, fantastic corner by Elliot hit SlickRick square in the face from 4 yards out and went straight into back of the net👌

Obviously disappointing that we couldn’t grab a couple more considering some of our chances, but at this stage of the season 3 points is all that matters. Onto Brim next week👊

MOTM - Kian Barlow again, shock🤦‍♂️

Today we travelled to Bolsover to face Carr Vale in the reverse fixture from 2 weeks ago

Not much to report on in the actual game. No goals and no cards. First half we should’ve been a couple clear but the Vale keeper pulled off some brilliant saves to keep scores level.

Unfortunately the game was abandoned 5 mins into 2nd half. Barrs took a nasty blow to the head whilst defending a corner, was knocked unconscious and dislodged front tooth😳

Thankfully he’s fine despite the crooked tooth and headache, although at the time it looked a whole lot worse.
Ralph made the decision called it off after it took 20 mins to get him up and in a car to be taken to Calow. We wish him a speedy recovery❤️

Massive thanks to the Carr Vale boys who helped in the very stressful situation and we look forward to playing the game in its full at a later date👍

Barrs clearly feeling much better in A&E as seen by the pics, laughing and talking sh*te as usual in his wheelchair😂

Big thanks also to Deegan and Alyssa for taking Barrsy to hospital ❤️

Today we faced Carr Vale at home at a very windy Dark Lane and came out 7-1 winners.

Wasn’t shaping up to be a good Day for us. Limited availability. A no show, Goosey playing on one ankle, Chris having to leave at Half-time and Mayo turning up 10 mins late made our initial squad of 14 abit questionable, especially with Houlty also stinking of stale beer and running on very little sleep🤦‍♂️ at least he turned up this time😂

Adding to all that 10 mins in big Fred must’ve hurt his ankle when he thunder cunted a effort off the cross bar😳
But in hurting his ankle it unfortunately ruled him out of the remainder🤦‍♂️

With peg leg Goose back on after only making way for Mayo 5 mins earlier we knew we had to dig deep, and we dug very fu***ng deep indeed😂

Chris bagged one to get us going and not long after Kian carved out a chance himself with some great solo work he found the bottom corner👊
Houltys mis guided cross got caught in the wind and flew in👀
Pebble also grabbed a brace. A glancing header from DD9’s free-kick for his first, his 2nd a repeat from last week dinking the keeper👏

Carr Vale were awarded a INDIRECT free kick in our area after a very dubious back pass decision, emphasis on the Indirect lads…..
Ref ruled it out as the lad just nailed it bottom corner😂 a great finish mind

HT came and we were 5 to the good👌

2nd half we were directly against the wind, we set up expecting a onslaught of balls in behind. That said though, 25 seconds into the 2nd half Deano wanted in on the action and found the top left with an absolute beauty from 25 yards out😮‍💨

Deano got his brace later into the half, cutting inside and he found the other top bin with a curling effort 👌

Pebble was denied his hat trick when his acrobatic over head kick effort was forced wide by the Vale keeper😳

Our opponents pulled one back late on a mere consolation.

Barrsy managed to ruin our 2 game streak of no bookings and got himself carded for booting the ball away🤦‍♂️😂

Goal-scorers - Pebble x2, Deano x2, Chris, Kian and Houlty

MOTM - Kian Barlow👏

This Morning we faced Courage in the Hutson cup,
Our 2nd trip to Langer lane already this year and again we come up short😞.

Was a brilliant game in fairness, both sides battled hard and a draw in the 90 mins was probably the fair result. However with it being a cup game it obviously went to penalties and we lost 6-5 with 10 penalties taken per side😂

We found ourselves 1 up midway through the 1st half, Pebble latched onto Barrsys goal-kick and dinked the Courage keeper😮‍💨
Not much else to report on, some strong challenges going in as always when us and Courage face eachother😂👀

HT came around and it was still a 1-0 lead, we made a couple subs and came out for the 2nd knowing we had to step it up

However we didn’t do that, Courage got an equaliser, free man back stick simple finish got the hosts level. Dingull made his feelings clear with the oppositions crowd celebrating on the pitch…

We found ourselves back in front soon after though, Lats found the bottom corner from edge of the box with his superior left peg and Ding decided to replicate the Courage celebrations which subsequently bit him on the arse 2 mins later when he failed to clear the ball and Courage found themselves 1 on 1 and buried their chance to level the scores.
Of course the sidelines then responded to Dingull by celebrating on the pitch even more, way to make yourself look a t**t Dingull😂🤦‍♂️

Penalties came, big shoutout to Barrsy who pulled off some incredible saves, the Courage keeper too. 👏
Every penalty on target except Lats’ who fluffed his chance of winning it by hitting the post🤦‍♂️

Disappointing not to progress to the next round but we now focus fully on the league and the job at hand.

Big thanks to Courage for snap in pub after and good luck for rest of season lads. But not too much, all to play for yet😂👀

The first dry Sunday in weeks and we’re back to winning ways😮‍💨

Away (home) at Town CFC… game re arranged to trusty old Dark Lane 👍
Started brilliantly. 2-0 up inside 5 mins, Deano got one (shock) and other was an own goal, despite Kian Barlows objection😂

Pebble got on the scoresheet and Dean bagged his brace. 4 up at half-time we were absolutely cruising without leaving 2nd gear.

5 subs at the break and we couldn’t get going again. Wind blowing right in our face we looked like we’d never played together before. Town grabbed one but we held out no stress, couple chances for us squandered late on denied us of increasing our lead

Quite an eventful game however, unsure what the Town boys were slipping into their water bottles but it certainly made them an angry bunch. 4 yellows and a red shown😂
Number 4 spat dummy out after 20 mins subbed himself off after finally escaping Danny Caunt’s back pocket👀

Shocking tackles flying in, one numpty seen red for calling the ref a di****ad too and to top it all off no 11 seemed to have a serious issue with Matty Westons hairline… not sure what he did to deserve the grief😂
Eventually the ref pulled everyone in and reminded the Town boys that they’re all adults and not children and to get on with the game🤦‍♂️

Despite that we came out with 0 woody boys in the book, which is an achievement in itself with how its been this season👀😂

Game ended 1-4 and we take the 3 points and move onto the next👌

Big thanks to Iran for starting WW3 this weekend, cancelled Danny “little fella” Caunt’s holiday to Dubai yesterday after he arrived at Manchester airport, so he got kitted up instead😉

Goalscorers - Dean x2, Pebble and Own Goal

MOTM - Elliot Pettifer👌
