Well done to Peter Gill and Ray Fryer who have won the club's Daniel Miller Cup with a truly outstanding score of 75.56%. This competition is mainly open to players who have participated in the club's teaching and supervised social play programmes.

Today the club ran a bridge drive on behalf of our host village Christleton which raised around £1000 towards their project to refurbish the old village phone box into a book and seed exchange. We are thrilled that the money will be used to benefit the village in this way and look forward to seeing the results of this project in action. The turnout was excellent, and a wonderful friendly afternoon's bridge was had by all. Perhaps when it is up and running the club can donate a few beginners bridge books too!

Tonight is the inaugural meeting of a new quiz team formed from the attendees of our lessons. Location: The Centurion pub in Vicar's Cross a community funded pub. Anyone interested in joining from the club message me if you want to be included. This is utterly unserious stuff, we will meet every Sunday at around 7pm and the quiz starts at 8. Tonight's team = 😎🧐😀🥸🤯 🤪

It's time to start thinking about Deva's season of bridge lessons for 26/27.

Lessons for beginners are either every Tuesday evening starting at 19:00 or Thursday afternoons starting at 13:15.

Lessons for improving players are either every Wednesday evening also starting at 19:00 or Thursday mornings starting at 10:00.

The same lesson is taught each week so students can attend the alternate lesson if they cannot make their usual one that week. Some very keen people attend both!

Those happy to enjoy the social side of bridge are welcome to join us in the local Institute after evening lessons for a swift half and a good natter. Bridge is a great way to make new friends.

Lessons are priced at £6 per session attended, include refreshments and notes and are taught by Deva's highly experienced team of teachers and assistants.

The first lesson of the new season starts on Tuesday 29th September.

There's no need to register, you can just turn up on the day. If you do require further information then email: [email protected]

We look forward to the pleasure of your company.

Well done to the Ladies who emerged victorious in the annual battle of the sexes Glyn Ellis trophy tournament this Sunday. A fine afternoon was enjoyed by all which included a sumptuous high tea.

The Deva Bridge Club Committee are excited to announce a very special event exclusively for members:

On Thursday 19th November 2026 the club will welcome Andrew Robson for an all-day special.

Running from 9:45am to 5pm, the cost will be £40.00 pp to include teas/coffees and a one-course lunch.

Please enrol for the event on the website. It will be limited to 16 tables and is expected to be fully subscribed. You can register with a partner, or register singly, in which case we will pair you up with others entering singly. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If there are any unfilled spaces then it will be opened up to non club members.

Designed for players looking to sharpen their skills and deepen their understanding, Andrew will guide you through a series of specially prepared instructional deals. The focus is on practical judgement, clear thinking, and key areas that consistently influence results at the table. Suitable for a broad range of experience (not beginners).

Andrew's bridge successes have included no fewer than 7 Gold Cup wins, European Open Championship winners and the winner of the prestigious American Reisinger Trophy twice. Andrew has a daily bridge column in The Times and also a popular online BridgeCast.
