Established in 1934, our mature 18-hole parkland course in the heart of the village offers an attractive golfing experience whether you are a beginner or a more experienced player and suitable for juniors through to seniors alike. Nick Sargent, our Senior PGA Professional, provides a full golfing service of lessons and a fully stocked golf-shop

Golf is one of the health-focused activities promoted by Sport England so if you are thinking about trying golf for the first time we are pleased to be offering a series of free taster sessions during Spring and early Summer – see advertisement for details. If you are getting back into playing golf or are a current golfer looking for a new club to join why not take advantage of our innovative “Stairway to Golf” membership package. See advertisement for current membership promotion. We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly club with active Junior, Men’s, Ladies and Seniors’ sections plus social activities including an art class, bridge club and facilities for other pastimes such as pool, darts and table tennis. Social memberships are available for non-golfers. We have excellent bar and catering facilities and “The Upton” restaurant is open to the general public – room and catering hire is also available for private functions. Entries are now open for our Ladies Open at Upton-by-Chester Golf Club.

The format is a 4-ball team Stableford, with 90% individual handicap allowance. Two scores will count on each hole, with all four scores counting on the 15th.

⛳ Investing in the Future of Junior Golf at Upton by Chester Golf Club!

Our newly formed Junior Golf Development Team came together today for their inaugural meeting to kick off an exciting new initiative for our junior section!

Our focus is to ensure UBCGC remains a welcoming, vibrant environment where our young golfers can truly thrive. We are committed to supporting our juniors through structured pathways for learning, helping them obtain official handicaps, and integrating them fully into club competitions and social life - all while embedding strong etiquette standards and mutual respect across the course.

Our goal is simple: to make Upton by Chester a club recognised for actively supporting and developing its young players, giving them the skills and confidence to enjoy this fantastic game for life. 🌟

⛳ Past Captains Salver 2026 ⛳

Yesterday we welcomed past captains from the last 40 years for our annual Past Captains Salver, with another enjoyable day’s golf played in some very warm conditions.

A big thank you to Tony Mapp, our Captain of Captains, for organising the day. It was also great to welcome past captains from other clubs who are now part of the Upton-by-Chester Past Captains’ group.

Congratulations to Richard Tweddle (Eastham Golf Club), who was the leading visiting past captain on the day.

Congratulations also to Martyn Porter, who won the 2026 Past Captains Salver with 39 points, edging out current Captain Andy Waterhouse on countback.

Thank you to everyone who took part. It was another enjoyable day and a great opportunity for past captains to get together and catch up.

Join us in the clubhouse on Wednesday evening as we cheer England on together on the big screen.

🌺 Another fantastic President’s Day at Upton-by-Chester Golf Club! ☀️⛳

A huge congratulations to Paul Knowles, who produced a stunning finish to claim this year’s President’s Day trophy. An eagle on the 18th helped Paul to 45 points – a remarkable score 👏

In the Ladies section, it was Ann Morris who took the honours with a very impressive score of 40 points, with Olivia Zarac and her mum Karolina scooping silver and bronze respectively on 39 points.

Congratulations also to all of our prize winners, and to everyone who embraced the Hawaiian theme and helped create such a brilliant atmosphere both on and off the course! 🌴🌺

A day like this doesn’t happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes, so we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to:

⛳ Myles and the greenkeeping team for presenting the course in superb condition, despite the relentless recent heatwaves.

🏌️ Nick and the Pro Shop team, who put in an incredible 15-hour day to keep everything running smoothly from start to finish.

🍽️ Our Bar & Catering team for keeping everyone fed and watered throughout the day.

📊 Clive, with a helping hand from Tony Mapp, for managing the scorecards and closing the competition. A special thank you also to Clive for generously providing bottled water at the 15th hole to help keep everyone hydrated in the scorching conditions.

📣 Our starters Vic, Jon, Frank and Paul for putting in a good shift and keeping things on time.

Finally, thank you to all 172 players who took part. It was a tremendous turnout, especially in the heat, and your support helped make President’s Day another memorable occasion.
