Techniques Swim and Triathlon Coaching is all about teaching adults of all abilities the amazing life skill of being able to swim, but not only swim, swim with the right techniques. Techniques Swim School provides adult swimming lessons, to those looking to learn to swim or wanting to improve their swimming. There is a big push to get children swimming but there are so many adults that as children

never had the opportunity to learn to swim or just gained the basic skills. I am looking to provide swimming sessions tailored to individual needs to enable adults to learn this vital life skill and improve their fitness, enjoy swimming with their children, enter a triathlon or just maybe save their life one day. Having started swimming only 2 lengths at a time, I taught myself to swim over a mile on a regular basis so I could enter a triathlon, I am not a natural in the water and know how hard it is for us mere mortals, so I can empathise and understand the difficulties. This enables me to teach non swimmers and those looking to improve from a "I've been there background and know how hard it is" rather than being a natural and thinking "why do you find it so difficult". Working in conjunction with Swim Right Swim School we can also offer children's swimming lessons, please contact for availability on adult and children's lessons.

🇦🇹 GOOD LUCK TEAM TECHNIQUES 🇦🇹

This weekend I’d like to wish a huge good luck to all the triathletes who have been attending my regular swim sessions, booked 1-2-1 coaching sessions or had video analysis over the past few months and are racing IRONMAN Austria.

Whether we’ve been working on body position, breathing, catch technique, open water confidence or simply helping you become more efficient in the water, you’ve all put the work in and earned your place on that start line.

As I always say, swimming is only one part of the race, but getting out of the water feeling fresh, confident and ready to bike can completely change your day.

A special mention to James Moore and Louise Clancy who will not only be taking on Ironman Austria but will also be battling it out to see who is officially the fastest triathlete in the household! 😆🏊🚴🏃

No pressure James… no pressure Louise… but I’m sure there will be plenty of friendly reminders about the result afterwards! 😂

Remember:
✅ Trust your training
✅ Stick to your race plan
✅ Stay patient early on
✅ Enjoy the experience

The hard work is already done.

Good luck to every athlete racing this weekend. Team Techniques Swim and Triathlon Coaching will be following along, tracking splits and cheering you all on from home.

You’ve got this! 💪🔥

🇦🇹 GOOD LUCK TEAM TECHNIQUES 🇦🇹

A huge good luck to three of my triathlon coached athletes, Nas, Mo and Jess, who take on IRONMAN Austria tomorrow.

The work is done. The training is in the bank. Now it’s time to enjoy the day and show yourselves what you’re capable of.

💪 Nas has absolutely nailed his training and heads into race day off the back of an outstanding 3:14 marathon at Manchester. The fitness is there and she’s earned every bit of confidence she takes to the start line.

💪 Mo has also been incredibly consistent throughout the build-up, ticking off session after session and arriving on the start line ready to race.

💪 Jess has shown exactly why she’s one of the toughest athletes I know. While building her new business, Bark Boss, she’s somehow managed to juggle work, life and training to get herself ready for race day. A couple of weeks ago she came off the bike during her final long ride and badly bruised her ribs. She tried riding again the following week but simply couldn’t. For many people that would have been enough to call it a day. Not Jess. A DNS was never an option and she’s battled through to make it to the start line.

Tomorrow is about trusting the training, staying patient and executing the race plan.

The Team Techniques Swim & Triathlon Coaching WhatsApp group will be tracking every split, cheering you on and no doubt providing plenty of commentary throughout the day!

Good luck Nas, Mo and Jess.

You’ve put in the work.
You’ve earned your place on that start line.
Now go and enjoy it.

Dom only swam 4 lengths here, 2 wrong we reviewed them poolside and once he saw what he was doing and because I try drilling it into him each week he could change his stroke immediately. He then swam the next 2 lengths with a great catch, hands need to be lower at the front and more of a push at the back but it’s a night and day difference.

🏊🚴🏃 IRONMAN 70.3 BOLTON 2026 🏊🚴🏃

What a day for Team Techniques at Ironman 70.3 Bolton! 👏👏👏

Three athletes.
Three very different journeys.
Three fantastic results.

🔥 Alex W – 5:12:24

Alex executed the race plan almost perfectly from start to finish. The swim was a few minutes slower than we’d hoped, but once out on the bike he absolutely nailed the targets. We planned for a 2:30-2:35 bike split and he delivered a 2:30. We planned for around 5:15/km on the run and he averaged an impressive 5:05/km.

A brilliant example of trusting the process, sticking to the plan and delivering when it matters.

🔥 Dan E – 5:27:54

Dan has had more than enough excuses not to be ready for this race…

✅ Started a new job
✅ House extension underway
✅ New baby just days before race day
✅ The usual training niggles that most athletes battle

Yet he still turned up, put together a fantastic performance and showed exactly what consistency and determination can achieve. A huge result considering everything he has had on his plate.

🔥 Liam G – 6:15:01

Liam’s very first triathlon.

No expectations. No pressure. Simply get to the finish line and enjoy the experience.

After an old knee injury flared up a few weeks ago, race day was always going to be a challenge, especially on the bike. But he dug deep, battled through and earned that finisher’s medal.

The first one is always special. Now the foundations are in place for bigger goals ahead with Ironman Wales on the horizon.

As a coach, results are great, but what makes me proudest is seeing athletes overcome the challenges life throws at them and still find a way to stand on that finish line.

Most people only see race day.

They don’t see the early mornings.
They don’t see the missed social events.
They don’t see the sessions squeezed around work, family and everything else life throws at us.

Congratulations Alex, Dan and Liam. You’ve all earned those medals. 👏🏅

I wanted to leave this one until he’d done and not jinx him, but 8 days from being able to swim 2-3 lengths to swimming 1900m at Bolton 70.3

Good luck to everyone taking part in IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton this weekend! 🏊🚴🏃

A special good luck to all the triathletes who attend my regular swim sessions, those I’ve worked with through 1-2-1 coaching, and the many athletes who’ve come to me for swim analysis over the last few years.

For some of you, the swim is your strongest discipline. For others, simply getting to the swim start has been a huge achievement in itself. Either way, you’ve all put in the work, trusted the process and earned your place on that start line.

A special mention has to go to Lyndon. A couple of weeks ago he realised that swimming wasn’t exactly his strongest point, but rather than panic, he got stuck in, listened, worked hard and kept turning up. Tomorrow he’s taking on the swim leg of a relay team and proving that with the right attitude, a lot can change in a very short space of time. 👏

Remember:
✅ Stay calm
✅ Trust your training
✅ Focus on what you can control
✅ Enjoy the atmosphere
✅ Be proud of what you’ve achieved just getting to the start line

Whether you’re chasing a PB, a qualification slot, completing a relay or simply aiming to cross the finish line, I hope you all have a fantastic day.

I’m proud of every single one of you.

Good luck and enjoy every minute of it! 👊🔥
