People talk about discipline like some people just have it and some donโ€™t. Thatโ€™s not true. Itโ€™s built the exact same way strength is, small consistent reps over time, not something youโ€™re born with or without.

I got my first gym membership younger than pretty much anyone I knew. It still took me years to actually stick to it properly. Iโ€™d go for a couple of weeks, see nothing change, stop, start again a few months later, same pattern on repeat. I didnโ€™t lack discipline back then, I just hadnโ€™t built the rep count yet.

If you donโ€™t feel disciplined right now, thatโ€™s not a character flaw. It just means youโ€™re still early in building it, same as everyone else was at some point, including me.

I had a terrible head cold, no energy, body clearly telling me to rest, and I trained anyway because I didnโ€™t want to โ€œlose momentum.โ€ Classic mistake, the kind I tell my own clients not to make.

All it actually did was drag the illness out longer and make the next few sessions feel harder than they needed to. Momentum isnโ€™t lost from one missed session, itโ€™s lost from burning out and needing a week off instead of a day.

Rest isnโ€™t the opposite of progress, ignoring your body is what actually costs you time.

Follow if your mindset around fitness needs as much work as your body does. Letโ€™s fix that together.

Just some food for thought for youโ€ฆ

If youโ€™re always telling yourself this is just a diet and youโ€™re only ever working towards a holiday, an outfit, a number on the scales then your results will always going to be temporary!

In order to make long term changes you need to think long term!

If you already know right now that none of this healthy eating stuff youโ€™re gonna do forever and you canโ€™t wait to get back to eating what you want Iโ€™m afraid itโ€™s never gonna happen for you.

This might sound harsh now but depending on how you define success diets generally have a failure rate of 67% to 90% even higher if there is no support soโ€ฆ

Instead of having just that big shiny number, or picture you have in your head, maybe itโ€™s worth thinking of some behaviours that come with it, and new that you can start today ๐Ÿ˜Š

I ran my September reset webinar with my clients last night, and one exchange in particular is still sitting with me today.

I asked the girls where they actually feel right now, ready for routine, a bit overwhelmed, completely out of habits, doing okay but need a reset, or still waiting for the right time. Then asked everyone to find their one leak, not โ€œIโ€™m inconsistent,โ€ the actual specific moment it happens.

One client said her leak was the weekends, socialising, always food and drink with the same friendship group. Genuinely one of the most common ones I hear. She said sheโ€™s all or nothing, either drinks or doesnโ€™t, canโ€™t just have two. I get that completely, I used to be exactly the same, three cocktails deep before anyone else had finished their first.

What actually shifted it for me wasnโ€™t willpower, it was time. Slowly becoming the friend who doesnโ€™t drink much anymore, instead of the one who always does. People stop asking after a while. You stop being โ€œlike a fish.โ€ It took years, not one good week.

Thatโ€™s the bit nobody wants to hear about consistency. Itโ€™s not about getting it perfect right away. Itโ€™s finding your actual leak, the specific moment, the specific trigger, and chipping away at it slowly enough that it eventually just becomes who you are instead of what youโ€™re fighting against.

DM me BBF if you want in on the next one of these, this is exactly the kind of work we do together.
