Hello! We are Rachel and Jamie and together we run The Dorothy Days. We believe in beautiful, practical and long lasting items which are unique, a joy to own and will be treasured for many years to come. This is central to

everything we do and bring you in the shop whether it is the hat which becomes a favourite wardrobe staple or the craft supply that you will turn into something beautiful and unique item to treasure. In a world of excess and waste, we strongly believe in buying better and buying less. We live by this philosophy ourselves and with what we bring you in our shop. We love what we do and are very much lead by our creativity and what sparks our interests and brings us joy to make. We have recently moved to our dream home in Cornwall, UK to raise our two children; Iris and Vivienne. We love that running our creative business allows us the freedom to be together as a family and hope to raise our children mindfully, in harmony with nature, and with an eagerness to explore our natural surroundings. A little hello from us 👋🏻

If you’re new here, we’re Rachel and Jamie and together we run The Dorothy Days from our home studio in Cornwall.

We make colourful, modern knitwear using 100% wool. Everything is made by us, by hand and plastic free (no superwash or acrylics here!)

Around here, we’ll share what we’ve been making, along with a bit of what goes on behind the scenes….our process, the yarns we use, new ideas and all the little things that go into running a tiny business.

We also share snippets of our life in Cornwall, the massive renovation project we’ve taken on 🍃🏡 (the highs and lows!) and our journey towards building a slower life in the countryside with our family. We have a lot to learn 😅

We went a little quiet in August.

The summer holidays always feel like such a strange mix of wonderful and completely full on 😅 especially as it’s one of the busiest times of year for Jamie and his work too.

So, we took our foot off the pedal just a little.

September is here and we are back 👋🏻🍁🍂 just in time for super busy season and this September we have SO many exciting things on and things to share with you all.

We’re taking a little break for the rest of August ☀️

August is a quieter time for both the shop and Dorset Team, but a really busy time for us as a family. We were doing a pretty good job of juggling everything, but we’ve definitely started to feel a bit burnt out, so we’ve decided to give ourselves the rest of the summer holidays off and step back until September.

The children are home for the summer holidays, Jamie’s work is particularly busy at the moment, and trying to fit everything around having everyone at home means there just aren’t quite enough hours in the day!

I’ll still be knitting away when I get a quiet moment. It actually gives me a chance to work more flexibly around the children and slowly build up stock ready for our September knitwear launch, without trying to keep on top of all the usual admin and social media at the same time.

So we’re not completely stopping, but we are taking the rest of August away from the usual shop and Dorset Team work so we can concentrate on the children while they’re off school, keep things ticking over behind the scenes, and hopefully head into September feeling a little more prepared and a little less frazzled!

July photo dump. July has been a real mixed month. It’s been super busy but also pretty chilled. Now the weather has cooled a little, Jamie has been getting our running more 🏃 and has discovered some beautiful local spots. We have been doing lots of autumn prep and working on socks currently! It’s exciting to see them come together.
