Burghead were delighted to have 4 teams enter the 5 Miles From Home Challenge. ‘Teal be Back’, ‘Teal Odyssey’, ‘Pictish Storm’ & ‘Clann an Uisge’

Due to a narrow weather window, 3 of the crews went out one evening earlier in the week. The final crew launching at approx 1945, returning to harbour just after 2100 when it was pretty well dark. (This was anticipated and the sea conditions were perfect, they even rigged a light to comply with Collregs)

Absolutely fantastic effort getting those 5 miles in from them all!

Unfortunately our mixed junior crew were not so lucky and didn’t find a weather window that matched their availability - such a shame for them as they are a keen crew

Hars off to the organisers of this event 👏🏻👏🏻 (which gets bigger every year!)

1 crew got a wee gold medal so smiles all round 🥇

A farewell row for Ruth before she moves away.
As junior rows go it was a memorable one! Our departure from the slip certainly won’t be forgotten for a while 🙈We did eventually get out and had a nice but fairly bouncy row out towards the maltings. In fact the conditions tonight were not at all easy to row in, but they just giggled and chattered away, kept rowing (mostly in time) and just made it look easy. It’s always a pleasure to row with our juniors and it’s sad to see another one depart. So good luck to Ruth and her family in their new home and remember, you’ll always be welcome to row with us if you come back to visit 👍
