Burton Thistle Reserves 1–2 Brough

Good point on the road as we come away with a 2–1 victory!

Bun opened the scoring for us in the 6th minute after a fantastic ball through from Joe. A brilliant goal, although he may have to thank the wind for helping put it away into the top corner! The first half saw both teams create chances and keep the game tight.

The second half followed suit, with the home side hitting the post and crossbar, while Ry in goal pulled off some great saves to keep us ahead.

Our second of the afternoon came from Ian Wells, who continues his Shearer-esque spell in front of goal. Burton managed to claw one back, but the lads held on to secure all three points.

A good day back in the league, with our eyes now on Penrith Royal at home next week, which is available to sponsor.

Brough FC 9–0 Millhead Reserves

A dominant afternoon from the lads as Brough ran riot with a 9–0 victory over Millhead Reserves!

Brough got the scoring underway after 15 minutes as Joe arrived at the back post and finished nicely to make it 1–0.

On 30 minutes, Bun doubled the advantage, finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box with a composed finish.

The second half saw the goals keep coming. Harry Jones was on hand for a tap-in after 55 minutes before doubling his tally just five minutes later, playing a lovely one-two with Bun before smashing the ball across the keeper.

Bun then got his second of the afternoon, sliding home at the back post to make it 5–0.

Brough continued to pile on the pressure, with Joe grabbing his second after a scramble in the box.

Bun then turned provider, pulling the ball back perfectly for Dante to make it 7–0.

Ewan smashed one home from about two yards out and stealing Dante’s second goal of the afternoon in the process!

Bun then completed his hat-trick, racing through on goal and finishing confidently to round off a superb 9–0 win.

Our cup run continues as we travel to Kirkby Lonesdale Reserves in the second round.

Good luck to Millhead Reserves for the rest of the season.

Lunesdale 1-1 Brough
Lunesdale win 3-2 on penalties 🏆

A windy afternoon at Tebay saw Brough knocked out of the League Cup after a penalty shootout defeat.

With the wind behind us in the first half, we probably should have made more of the conditions, but it was Lunesdale who took the lead after neatly working the ball to the back post and finishing well.

Brough had a couple of chances but, after a busy month of football, we just weren’t quite ourselves. The highlight of the first half? Probably Lee’s impressive collection of Rollie pollies.

We came out of the blocks much better in the second half and started putting Lunesdale under some pressure. Bun came closest to putting us level, rattling the crossbar before, eventually, the Lunesdale centre-half somehow managed to lob his own goalkeeper to bring us level at 1-1. We’ll take it.

Chances came at both ends as both teams pushed for a winner, but neither side could find the breakthrough, meaning it was straight to penalties.

Ry pulled off some good saves and there were certainly some… interesting penalties along the way. Credit has to go to Ewan for stepping up and taking the first one, but unfortunately the shootout didn’t go our way, with Lunesdale winning 3-2.

Disappointing to go out, but after a hectic month of football, the lads can hold their heads high. Time to rest up, recover and go again.

Next up: more cup action this Saturday as we face Millhead Reserves in the First Round of the Junior Cup. ⚽️

Brough FC 2–3 Appleby Reserves

Brough came flying out of the blocks and found ourselves 2–0 up inside the opening half an hour, with Bun and Ian Wells continuing their impressive goalscoring form.

Appleby managed to pull one back before half time, leaving us with a slender lead going into the break.

The second half saw Brough create chances , but we just couldn’t find that crucial third goal to put the game to bed. Appleby took full advantage, completing the comeback with two second-half goals to take all three points.

A tough run of midweek games comes to an end, but credit to the lads who gave it absolutely everything despite tired legs. 💙🤍
