โ๏ธWith more people using the rights of way network / multi-use paths, the BHS has been made aware of instances where horses have been seriously injured, made extremely ill or in some cases having died due to the public feeding the horse or through actions such as leaving gates open.
We believe many people act with no malicious intent and are simply unaware of the risks and horrifying unintended consequences of their actions.
In response, our Be Horse Aware campaign aims to raise awareness to the general public about how important it is not to feed horses and reminders on the Countryside Code.
A number of different warning signs are available for horse owners and landowners to download and use to warn the public who may encounter their horses.
