Bridport Gig Rowing Club

Bridport Gig Rowing Club Formed in 2007, Bridport Gig Rowing Club offers its members rowing on the stunning Jurassic coast from West Bay.

We have over 150 members from the age of 11 upwards, who regularly train and race in our 5 traditional Cornish pilot gigs.

Bridport Open Masters crews had a great performance at Paignton on Sunday.

We shared our heat with some stiff competition and in a very close race, came 4th behind Appledore, Lyme A and Swanage.
We were 5th overall out of 22 crews in the heats based on time which assured our place in the A final.

The wind had picked up by the afternoon and the sea was increasingly choppy as we got offshore.

We had a reasonable start but got held up on the first bouy by a collision ahead of us between Lyme A and Swanage. We stayed in contact with the pack and came in 8th place. Given the quality of the competition in the A final, we were pleased with that.

A big thanks to all the messages of support on the day. It means a lot.

A short résumé of Bridport Open Masters crews great performance at Paignton on Sunday.

What a cracking start to the CPGA Euros! Our Open Masters had consistently tight races, fighting every stroke to gain distance. Finishing in a strong 10th place, 2nd in Group B!
