This week we’ve been working really hard on a whole range of qualities. It’s been demanding where Tom has taken everything in his stride.

On Monday Tom worked as hard as anyone on the agility. Even after everyone was tired and resting Tom battled through to make sure he done every last part of the drills.

Recently we’ve been working on using our weaker foot without hesitation. It’s something that Tom hasn’t been comfortable with in the past but he’s been using it more and more, doing it without thinking which is a credit to Tom for his efforts.

Well done this week Tom. Another brilliant few sessions, your hard work is really paying off. You are our Trainer Of The Week.

For the first time in a few weeks we’ve been able to do 2 full training sessions. The past 2 weeks we’ve had tournaments and midweek games but it’s been excellent to get back on the training pitch to work and prepare for the weekend.

We’ve been mixing things up, right from agility through to skill moves. We finished with an extended game where we were able to demonstrate what we’ve worked on.

Well done lads. Let’s take this attitude into the weekend.

This morning’s game might not have went our way but we still showed examples of how well we can play. Arthur was a prime example of the attitude you need.

Right from the start Arthur was keen to get on the attack. Opening up the pitch with his ability to use both feet and close control when he’s in possession. He got a well deserved assist with a quality cross field pass.

In defence Arthur read the game so well. Maintaining a high position while being able to shift straight into the back line to deal with any danger. Transitioning straight onto the attack whenever he can.

Whenever Arthur wasn’t on the pitch he was still 100% involved. Talking to the lads and cheering them on while taking in everything he sees to prepare for when he is on.

Well done today Arthur, excellent performance. You are our Man Of The Match, sponsored by Cgd Property and Cakes & Bakes by Jess

Game day again for the Colts this morning as we played Velocity Falcons.

We began really bright, attacking forward and doing it in numbers. After just a few minutes we were caught at the back with a great move from Velocity.

We regrouped and went again, continuing to do the right things as we pressed up the pitch. Before long we got the equaliser. Arthur found Louie in space who finished it without hesitation.

Both sides went straight on the attack. With good chances being carved out neither could find the back on the net for much of the half. Right on half time Velocity broke free through the middle and finished neatly to give them the advantage going into the break.

As the second half started we needed to keep doing the right things. Work as a team and keep it compact. We began well but were caught by Velocity who got a third.

We needed to keep our heads up, knowing a way back into the game was there. Unfortunately Velocity grabbed a few more as they ran out comfortable winners in a great game.

Plenty to learn from, we’ll be making changes and putting it right in training and in the games as we head towards the end of the season.

Today we wish a huge Happy 7th Birthday to our superstar Jesse.

He might be just turning 7 now but he’s far from being the kid in the group. Jesse has had such a rapid development over the course of this last year, standing proudly in the team on merit.

What better way to celebrate his birthday than spending the day before playing football at the home of his heroes, Newcastle United.

From everyone here at Boldon Colts we hope you have the best day mate.

Credit where it’s due, these lads have 100% earned a fantastic experience. On the back of a fantastic run of form in the league and 3 tournament wins in May the lads were invited to attend Newcastle United to play against their Academy teams.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for the lads to showcase their ability against some of the best talent out there.

We took 2 teams along to ensure the lads had plenty of game time and chances to shine. To add to the squad and ensure we had 6 on each team we invited 3 other players along who were fantastic additions to the squad. Chester, Max and Alfie all joined and were a credit to themselves and their families.

Every one of the lads played some brilliant performances. Linking up all over the pitch, playing fast and free flowing football, taking chances and never being afraid to try new things.

These lads deserve the chances and took it with both hands. We couldn’t be more proud of how hard you’ve worked to get here and done it all with a smile while having fun.

Looking back on today’s game the scoreline makes it look comfortable. But it was far from it. In goal Orson was in fantastic form.

Throughout the game he was called into action time and time again. Standing tall every time and making himself big. Racing off his line to narrow the angle before making reflex saves.

It’s these crucial points in the game that swung the pendulum in our favour, giving us the confidence that we could attack high up the pitch knowing Orson was keeping guard.

Orson’s distribution was key to getting up the pitch too. Whether he was playing with his feet or taking the long throw it was getting through each and every time. The lads are confident to play it back to keep possession and open up the pitch for the return in an instant.

A huge well done today Orson. Faultless from start to finish in one of your best displays yet. You are our Man Of The Match, sponsored by Cgd Property and Cakes & Bakes by Jess

Sunday morning football has never been so early for the lads. We headed to Washington but this time for an 8:15 kick off. Fortunately we had bright sunshine and warm weather to make the trip a little easier.

For the fourth league game running we would be playing against a team that we had drawn with last time out. This time against Durham United, last time out was a 6-6 draw so we expected plenty of goals again.

Despite the early start the Colts were fired up and ready to go. We struck first with a cracking goal. Cole opened up the space to shoot, as we expected him to let loose he moved the ball onto his weaker left foot and smashed home at the far post.

Soon after we doubled the lead. Arthur burst down the wing and crossed the ball into the area for Oliver to calmly pass home from in the back.

The third goal was a long range effort that nobody was keeping out. Orson had the ball at his feet and played it up to the forward. The ball evaded everyone and with the keeper expecting a clearance it made it through and into the back of the net.

We finished the half at 3-0. Last time we had a good lead at half time but Durham still came back to draw. We needed to keep up the pressure going into the second half.

We got exactly that. William used his skill to beat his marker from the wing. Dribbled inside and smashed it in at the near post, the keeper got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out.

Jesse was fastest to react as we made it 5. As the defence and keeper passed it between them he raced through, nobody cleared it and he was clever enough to pass in to the empty net.

Durham rallied and pulled 2 goals back in quick succession to make it 5-2. We went straight back up the other end tried to make it 6. Arthur curled one towards the top corner. We all stood expectantly waiting for the net to ripple but the keeper made one of the best saves we’ve seen. Stretching high into the corner to tip it round the post.

We finally made it 6 as Oliver made it a brace. Powering through the defence before finishing high into the roof of the net with just seconds to go.

Well done today lads. The step up in quality has been unbelievable lately and we can’t wait to see it continue. 5 different goal scorers once again showing the quality all over the pitch.

After Monday’s tournament the lads were all looking to take their fine form into today’s game. Louie done exactly that, from kick off until the last whistle he was giving it his all.

Louie played in midfield and was an attacking threat throughout. Happy to dribble at the opposition with his skills before bursting past with his raw pace.

We’ve worked a lot on possession lately and Louie brought it all together today. Holding on to the ball until the time is right before playing forward passes into space with ease. He caused problems all over with the variety of his play, attacking at every opportunity.

Louie’s defensive work-rate was key today. Sprinting back into position at the back and covering when it’s needed if he spotted danger.

Well done today Louie. Another quality display from you mate. You are our Man Of The Match, sponsored by Cgd Property and Cakes & Bakes by Jess

After the success last weekend the lads were straight back into it with another league game, this time against Silksworth. We faced them in Monday’s tournament where we played out a 0-0 draw. We finished last weekend in great form and the lads definitely carried it over into today.

Arthur was first to attack, dribbling in from the wing and finishing at the far post with accuracy.

Oliver made it 2 as he steered it into the bottom corner after Arthur played the through ball to open up the defence.

Louie grabbed the third and the last of the half after William found him unmarked at the far post. Taking his time to control and smash home into the roof of the net.

We went into the break with a 3 goal lead but needed to keep up the pressure. Straight from the kick off Arthur found space again. As his shot was going wide Jesse was fastest to react and knocked it past the keeper to make it 4.

The fifth was the pick of the bunch. Louie got himself in a great area out wide but pulled the ball back to William. He took his time and after noticing the keeper off his line he looped it over the keeper as it dropped in the back of the net.

Oliver made it a brace soon after as he broke free through the middle. His shot having too much power for the keeper to keep it out.

The final goal was a complete solo effort. Cole deceived the midfield, shifted it into space and powered home past the keeper.

On paper it looks like a one sided game but it was a complete performance from the back to the front. Everyone looked after the ball and played with confidence. 6 different goal scorers showing that we attacked in numbers.

Well done today lads. Superb effort in a faultless technical display.
