Yesterday our gents team visited Backworth for what always proves to be a tricky away trip. On a very windy night Backworth’s small and quick greens proved a difficult proposition for our lads who lost on the night 8-4.

As ever we received a warm and friendly welcome on the night with all games played in a great spirit. Thanks to Captain Steve Carr and his team for their hospitality.

Blyth v Newbiggin Thursday 28th May.

On a lovely night for golf last Thursday saw us play host to Newbiggin week 5 of the Newcastle and District Golf League.

Our 6 man team took on a strong looking team from just up the coast. All matches were played in a friendly spirit and games were all very tight going in to the back nine.

With 3 wins and a halved game we managed to come out on the right side of the result with a 7-5. Our team and results are as follows:

Jamie Charlton - 2 down
Ian Henderson - A/S
Joe Atkinson - 2&1 win
Graham Pitt - 3&2 win
Jon Green - 3&2 loss
Liam Foster - 3&2 win

Saturday 23rd May saw Blyth Golf Club host the Captains Charity Night in aid of Brainkind. I would like to personally thank club members, friends and family who came in great numbers to support the event. Also thanks to anyone that bought raffle tickets, donated prizes and generously supported the night. Zoe-Leigh Jackson kept guests entertained with her Debbie Harry tribute and 80s and 90s sets.

Sadly most of the organisers were extremely busy on the night therefore photos are limited. However if anyone has any they would like to share please feel free to send them and I will add them to the post.

Thank you once again for supporting this amazing cause raising an amazing £1381.00 in total.

Last Thursday our gents Newcastle and District League team played host to current league champions the City of Newcastle Golf Club.

The weather was kind early in the evening and considerably warmer than previous weeks. This made for some excellent golf with Blyth making the most of home advantage taking the lead in most of the games on the front 9.

Conditions worsened at the night went on and the games became tighter this made for some closer games with all but 2 of the games making it to the 17th. In the end the home team proved stronger in the night and ran out 9-3 winners. Results on the night were as follows:

Jamie Charlton beat Paul Souter 2&1
Ian Henderson v Keith Brooks A/S
Joe Atkinson beat Kevin Cademy-Taylor 4&2
Jon Green lost to Graham Forrest 1down
Liam Foster beat Tony Stevenson 4&3

Yesterday saw our gents play their third game of the season away at Westerhope. On a cold and breezy night we managed to register our first win of the season with a 7-5 score line as follows (2 points for a win, 1 point for a halved game)
