๐ DIAMONDS SHINE BRIGHT IN EARLSTON! ๐
On Saturday, the Berwick Diamonds travelled to Earlston to take part in their 10s competition, following their success at the Musselburgh 7s earlier in the year.
With their first game not kicking off until 2:10pm, the Diamonds had plenty of time to watch the opposition โ and it was clear that although this was a fun competition, everyone was there to compete! ๐
๐ GAME 1 โ BERWICK 43โ5 MUSSELBURGH
The Diamonds got off to a flying start with Katy Pook (โPookyโ) breaking through to score, followed quickly by Emma Paice, converted by Chloe Gray.
Lola Jo added another before Musselburgh pulled one back just before half-time.
The second half saw Berwick continue to dominate, with Kirstie B, Rachel D and Katie G all getting over the line, with three conversions added.
A fantastic 43โ5 win! ๐
๐ GAME 2 โ BERWICK 22โ12 ALNWICK
Next up were local rivals and friends Alnwick.
Kirsty B opened the scoring, with CG adding the extras. Alnwick responded before Katie G weaved her way through the defence to score.
Alnwick levelled things up at half-time, but the Diamonds finished strongly, with Katie G grabbing another before Lola Jo crossed just before the final whistle.
Another win โ 22โ12! ๐ช
๐ GAME 3 โ BERWICK 31โ10 GALA VIXENS
The Diamondsโ third game saw them take on Gala Vixens.
Finlay Bowden opened the scoring, converted by CG, before Katie G and Katy Pook added further tries.
Chloe Gray then split the Gala defence to score, followed shortly afterwards by Rachel Denholm.
Gala fought back with a couple of tries, but the Diamonds held on for another impressive victory.

๐ THE FINAL โ BERWICK 0โ37 INVERNESS
Three wins from three meant the Diamonds had earned their place in the final, where they faced a very strong Inverness side looking to defend the title they won last year.
Having travelled with just 11 players, the Diamonds faced a tough task from the start. Inverness were able to rotate their squad throughout the game, while unfortunately an accidental high tackle saw our vice-captain Emma P unable to continue.
Despite being reduced to nine players for the remainder of the match, Invernessโ ability to attack from deep and rotate their players proved too much for the Diamonds.
Full-time: Inverness 37โ0 Berwick
๐ WHAT A DAY FOR THE DIAMONDS!
Despite the final result, there were some absolutely fantastic performances from every single one of the Diamonds.
The progress this team has made over the past season has been brilliant to watch, and they should be incredibly proud of themselves. ๐
A massive thank you to Earlston for hosting a fantastic competition and to all the teams involved for creating such a brilliant atmosphere.
It was another great example of how womenโs rugby continues to grow and improve at grassroots level, with fantastic competition, camaraderie and sportsmanship throughout the day. ๐โค๏ธ
Well done, Diamonds! ๐
