Maru Karate Kai Announces Half-Price Entry to Prestigious Kodōsai Cultural Event for Basildon Youth
BASILDON, ESSEX – March 12, 2026 – Maru Karate Kai is proud to announce a special community initiative providing local students and families with a 50% discount on tickets for the upcoming 12th Kodōsai Cultural Event. This significant reduction is made possible through a generous grant from the Jack Petchey Foundation, continuing a long-standing partnership dedicated to empowering the young people of Basildon.
Investing in the Children of Basildon
For over 15 years, Maru Karate Kai has been more than just a martial arts club; it has been a cornerstone for youth development in Basildon. By securing this grant, the club is ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent local children from experiencing a world-class celebration of Japanese culture and martial arts.
"Our mission has always been to give back to the community that has supported us since 2009," says Marc Grayston-hanshi. "Thanks to the Jack Petchey Foundation, we can offer our students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in tradition, discipline, and art at a fraction of the cost."
A Legacy of Support: Maru & Jack Petchey
The Jack Petchey Foundation was established by Sir Jack Petchey CBE to inspire and motivate young people across London and Essex. Maru Karate Kai has enjoyed a "Gold Standard" long-term relationship with the Foundation, consistently participating in the Achievement Award Scheme to recognize the hard work and positive impact of its students. This latest grant is a testament to their shared vision: "If you think you can, you can!"
Exclusive Discount Details
Starting Saturday, 14th March, Maru Karate Kai students can claim their discount for the event held this October. Due to high demand and the significant subsidy, tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
