That’s a wrap 🏉

It’s been an incredible season and what a great way to finish with pizza, ice cream and anything but rugby kit.

We’ll catch you in August. Until then, the girls, coaches, volunteers and parents have rightfully earned a rest.

Sometimes we play mermaids 🧜🏻‍♀️

At Ayr we believe that rugby is more than just a sport; it can be a transformative experience that builds self-confidence, fosters lifelong friendships, improves fitness, and empowers individuals. We recognise that girls who play sports go on to become Women who lead and we work hard to provide that opportunity for our players.

We are currently recruiting new players for our girls section. If you are aged between 9 & 17 years and want to give rugby a try, we would love to hear from you.

We train on at Dampark on a Monday from 5pm-7pm and at Millbrae on a Wednesday from 5pm-7pm. No experience is necessary.

DREAM TEAM

Congratulations to Chloe, Bethan, Katie Rose, Orla, Ella, Imogen and Amelia on making this week’s Dream Team.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the girls section, with our U11s and U13s going to tournaments at Greenock, Carrick and Strathendrick.

We saw some great performances over the 3 tournaments, with the following players being picked:
Amelia Wilson - Strathendrick
Katie-Rose Walker - Strathendrick
Ella Tudor - Carrick
Imogen Rae - Carrick
Orla MacFarlane - Greenock
All of the girls selected put in fantastic performances, with strong tackling and excellent ball carrying. Well done girls.

Our U15s and U17s travelled to Strathendrick on Sunday for the penultimate tournament of the season.
For our U15s Bethan McGarey was making her debut in Ayr colours and put in a fantastic performance to earn a place in this weeks Dream Team. Electric pace and strong ball carrying in attack, coupled with solid tackling made this an easy choice for the coaches.

For our U17s Chloe Smith put in a solid performance against very strong opponents with her usual blend of strong defence and direct attack, earning her a place in this weeks dream team.
Well done girls

Our full girls section headed up to Strathendrick on Sunday for a girls tournament in memory of Siobhan Cattigan.

Our U11s teamed up with Falkirk and had a great time playing with their new friends, earning the most resilient and hard working team trophy.

Our U13s along with our friends from Cumnock and Irvine teamed up Falkirk. This hybrid team played some great rugby, especially given it was their first time playing 15-a-side on full pitch and did really well to finish 2nd overall.

Our U15s, along with our partners from Irvine teamed with Garioch. The girls really enjoyed getting to play against teams from Falkirk, Dundee and Argyll, who we dont often get the chance to play and were very impressed with the standard of the opposition.

Finally our U17s, along with our partners from Carrick teamed up with Falkirk and Lochaber for games against Dundee and Strathendrick. The girls had a great time and worked hard as a joint team against very strong opposition.

We also need to say a huge thank you to Strathendrick for hosting such a great development tournament. It was fantastic to see over 500 girls playing rugby over the 4 age bands.
