We can't wait to see everyone at the SAST Open Meet this weekend! We are excited to welcome Barking & Dagenham Aquatics, Rutherglen, Kilmarnock, North Ayrshire, East Kilbride, Milngavie & Bearsden, Merrick Mavericks, Bellshill Sharks, Renfrew Baths, Motherwell & Wishaw, Forth Valley Tridents, Kintyre and Larkhall to the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr! We can't wait to see everyone and for the fast swimming that is to come!

You'll notice a few changes in the changing village and on poolside due to the ongoing refurbishment of the Citadel however we do not envisage that this will cause any issues during the meet - all clubs attending have been emailed with the relevant information.

Here is a sneak peek at our brand new medals which will get this first outing this weekend!

And we found a lost polar bear at the Mini League Finals… we really aren't sure how anyone would lose a polar bear… but don't worry… we have looked after them really well this week, with a new t-shirt keeping them warm 🤣 Hoping they can make it home after the meet…!

Last week saw a number of SAST swimmers represent both Ayrshire and/or their schools at the Scottish Schools Swimming Championships in Aberdeen!

Thursday saw the Team Championships take place. A hectic afternoon saw relay after relay take place - school relays followed by regional relays in both the 4x50m Freestyle and 4x50m Medley.

The school relays saw swimmers race alongside their school mates, whereas the regional relays brought together swimmers from SAST, North Ayrshire, Kilmarnock, REN96 and Inverclyde to take on other regions across Scotland.

Our swimmers smashed it and brought home a number of medals!

Friday then saw the individual Championships take place with lots of SAST representation across the 3 sessions, and plenty of long course personal best from the team!

Our headline results were:
Christian (Marr College) Multi-Class 100 Free SILVER
Aidan (Prestwick Academy) 13-14 100 Fly SILVER
Connie Hart (Kyle Academy) 15-16 100 Breast SILVER
Aidan (Prestwick Academy) 13-14 200 Fly SILVER
Rachel (Marr College) Multi-Class 100 Free BRONZE
Cameron (Garnock Academy) 12&u 50 Back 5th
Nuala (Belmont Academy) 12&u 50 Fly 8th

And well done to everyone else from SAST who raced at the meet:

Good luck to Christian, Rachel and Nicole who are part of the Scottish Swimming team racing down at the National Junior Para-Swimming Meet in Coventry!

Coach Mike will also be part of the team supporting our 3 SAST swimmers as well as the rest of the 14 strong team!

Sunday saw a warm and noisy pool in Dumfries host the Mini League Finals Day and SAST brought the noise and plenty of fast swimming!

In what was a fast and furious A Final, our team finished in a respectable 5th place! A massive well done to all of our swimmers that raced in the A Final, as well as everyone who helped up get there across the 3 early rounds!

Well done to all the other teams in the A Final, especially City of Glasgow on their win!

Thanks to all our swimmers for their excellent team spirit, enthusiasm and effort. Also to all the coaches and team managers for their help throughout the team this season!

Good luck to our Mini League team that is racing in the A Final today down in Dumfries!



This is the first year in a long time that the final is being held away from our home pool… and we are rather excited with an extra 2 teams in the A Final to help bring some more excitement, noise and fast racing!



We go into the A Final having finished 4th in the regular season and will be up against City of Glasgow, Larkhall, REN96, Scotia, M&B, Stirling and West Dunbartonshire in what promises to be an exciting final!



A massive thank you to J Pieroni & Sons for sponsoring our Mini League team once again this year! This is the second year in a row that Pieroni's has supported our younger swimmers and we really appreciate continued the support from a local business, especially one that has so many ties to the club.

With the recent spell of hot weather, and the temptation to cool off in any body of water being totally understandable, we wanted to remind our members of Royal Life Saving Society's Water Safety Code.

There are always a number of dangers present in water that everyone should be aware of - even if you are a competent swimmer in a swimming club!

We urge all to take note of the recommendations - Stop and Think, Stay Together, Call 999 and Float - and use them as needed over the coming weeks and months.

Cold water shock is also a massive danger for anybody entering a body of water so please take care at all times!
