The Practice will be closed from 1:00pm on Tuesday 1st September for staff training.

We’ll reopen as normal at 8:30am on Wednesday 2nd September

Alva Medical Practice are taking part in the 'Maggie's 5K and 10K Chase' in support of Maggie's at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

Maggie's supports many patients and family each year who have been affected by cancer.

📢 Patient Update

Our friends and colleagues at Tillicoultry Medical Practice have recently moved to their new clinical system. Unfortunately they are experiencing significant issues.

Alva Medical Practice is also experiencing significant issues.

Tillicoultry have given us permission to use their most recent Facebook post by way of an update for our own patients and would like to thank our patients for their continued patience and understanding. We really do appreciate it.

Since changing to a new clinical computer system in late February/early March, we have been experiencing significant technical issues which are affecting the speed at which our team can carry out everyday tasks.

Unfortunately, many processes are taking considerably longer than they did previously.

This is having an impact on a number of areas, including:

• Telephone waiting times
• Prescription processing
• Appointment administration
• Referrals and other administrative work

Our staff are working incredibly hard, including undertaking additional hours, to minimise disruption and maintain patient care.

We have raised our concerns with the relevant teams and continue to work with them to seek improvements.

We understand that delays can be frustrating and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. We kindly ask for your patience while we continue to navigate these challenges.

Supporting our Coalsnaughton community 💙

We know many local residents have been affected by the recent evacuation of several streets in Coalsnaughton. This is an incredibly worrying and unsettling time, and we want to reassure our affected patients that the team at Alva Medical Practice is here to help wherever we can.

If you have been displaced and are experiencing difficulties with your healthcare — accessing medication, arranging or attending appointments, or managing ongoing physical or mental health needs — please contact us.
We will prioritise prescription requests wherever possible and offer flexibility with appointments, including alternative arrangements if you’re unable to attend.

Situations like this can have a real impact on wellbeing. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or in need of support, our team can provide advice and signpost you to local and national services that may be able to help.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we would like to thank the emergency services, local authorities and community organisations who are working tirelessly to support residents.
