Diag 2026 Grand Raid Réunion – My Remontada. 338th → 100th
I force myself not to go fast, and it doesn’t take long to find an adventure buddy: .
I find my crew Ben Pages | Mental Performance Coach 🐉 without any trouble in the chaos and leave with a full stomach, determined to pull off a remontada.
Crew stop in the cold, before sunrise.
The sun comes up, and I keep climbing the ranks.
The sun comes up, and I keep climbing the ranks.
Strapping on the ankle that rolled twice in the descent from hell. A bit worried at that point. Stop way too long: I lose Victor, who I’d run the whole race with until then.
Nutrition is going well with a mix of BIX gels and solid food (50/50)
Between the ankle and the way-too-long stop at Hell-Bourg, I’m a bit disoriented. I’m starting to struggle to eat.
Shortly after Plaine des Merles, I met Marie Michelli , and we got along really well. We move well together, and my morale comes back fast.
Head in the game, legs feeling light, the Mafate crossing goes really well.
After a really solid climb, it’s freezing up there, so we head out pretty quickly.
Quads wrecked by the descent, the fatigue… I’m really struggling at this point.
The legs are back, but what hell, that descent to La Possession: it feels endless.
Good vibes, still with Marie.
A bit disoriented, but we keep moving forward, all the way to the end.
Crossing the line with Marie, after almost 20 hours of racing together.
From 338th to 100th. 100th out of 2,766 starters (top 4%). 34:47:33 for 181 km and 10,200 m D+. +238 places. ~2h20 of stops. 640 DNFs this year (23%), 186 of them at Hell-Bourg.
Guy who falls asleep within 30 seconds of getting in the car, after 2 sleepless nights in a row 😴
The full film of my race is coming soon 🎬 Follow Trail With Ben (Benjamin Nicolas) so you don’t miss it.
