Safety pins. We use them to attach race numbers to our tops and running vests.
You’ve seen photos from the UTMB start line in Chamonix with around 2400 runners waiting to run through town and begin their journey around Mont Blanc.
Among them was Nadia. With less than 30 mins to the start, the zip on her running vest broke. I know, right?!
With no safety pins, she wrapped a black bag she’d found on the floor around her pack. Genius move. I then headed to the first crew-accessible aid station, Les Contamines, with one of my packs to swap with hers.
Today’s tip: carry a few safety pins. You never know when you may need them.
Love and Mettle,
