Have you ever spotted a sarrio? 🐐⛰️
They are the shy, agile mountain goats of the Pyrenees—climbing rocky slopes with ease, watching us from afar, and disappearing between the peaks in the blink of an eye.
Every year, park rangers head into the mountains to count them. It’s called the sarrio census, and it helps us understand how the population is doing, how it is evolving, and how the animals move through the valleys. Without this work, it would be much harder to protect the fragile balance of these mountains. 🌿
This year, Jochum had the opportunity to join the rangers and came back full of stories—the silence high in the mountains, the patience it takes, and the excitement of spotting a sarrio through the binoculars. 👀
A beautiful reminder that these mountains are full of life—and that many dedicated people work quietly behind the scenes to help keep them that way. 💚
