Hi Neighbours,

I understand some residents are wondering about the upgrades to the Kent Avenue Greenway. I reached out to the City recently and received an update. You may have already noticed some signage on East Kent Avenue North between Portside and Elliott Street which no longer allows for parking or stopping on the South side of the East Kent Avenue North. Things are happening in stages with different crews working on different elements of the design. Immediate neighbours will be notified when they can expect to see construction or installation work nearby, but here are a few highlights from the City as to what’s coming and when:

2026:

• Now: New 30km/hr signage installed at entry points to the neighbourhood, turn restrictions from SE Marine Dr.

• Summer 2026: New speed humps/cushions on E Kent Ave S (Argyle St to Victoria Dr), new partial closure traffic calming feature as planned, new interim curb bulges: Elliott St and Victoria Dr, associated stop sign rotations, surface paint, including lines and stencils. (note: paint requires periods of dry and warmer weather, so the main paint season is April-October)

• Summer onwards: E Kent Ave N (Argyle St to Victoria Dr) repaving + speed humps

2027:
• Off-street path resurfacing
• New sidewalk connection from off-street path to Portside Dr
• New concrete curb bulge at Portside Dr

VPD News Release | Multiple vehicles damaged in South Vancouver mischief spree

The Vancouver Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person, or persons, responsible for deliberately damaging over a dozen vehicles in South Vancouver over the past week. The incidents occurred between Fraser Street and Victoria Drive, between E 45th and E 61st Avenues.

Investigators believe these tire slashings and keying incidents may be related.

“We believe there are possibly more victims who have had their vehicles damaged and may not have reported it to police. We recommend anyone with CCTV or eyewitnesses to contact our investigators,” says Constable Megan Lui.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact Vancouver Police at 604-717-3321.
