🌭Just a reminder that our Hot Dog Sale is happening this Sunday, June 7, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Northside Community Pool!

Stop by for a hot dog, drink, and a treat while supporting the pool!🌭

Also, our final free swim of the season will take place the same day from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, generously sponsored by CBRM Recreation!

We hope to see lots of familiar faces out for both events as we head into the final week before our summer closure!☀️☀️

Just an early reminder about some important upcoming pool dates! ☀️

- We are still open for another couple weeks, with our last day before summer break being Sunday, June 14th, 2026.

- The pool will then close from June 15th - September 13th for annual summer maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and getting everything ready for the fall season.

- Fall swim lesson registration opens September 8th, 2026.

- The pool officially reopens for swims on September 14th, 2026, and fall lessons will begin the week of September 28th - October 4th.

We just wanted to give everyone lots of notice for summer planning and fall registration dates. Thank you all so much for another great season so far, we hope everyone has an amazing summer! 💙

The Northside Community Pool’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 7:00 PM!

Community members, swimmers, families, staff, and supporters are all welcome to attend. We’ll be looking back on the past year at the pool, sharing updates, and discussing what’s ahead!

Hey everyone, just a heads-up: Our pool lost power, and Nova Scotia Power’s outage map says restoration should be around 9:15 p.m. Because we can’t have anyone in the water without proper lighting, we’ll be closing for the evening.
We’re really sorry for the inconvenience, and we hope to see you all back tomorrow! 🏊‍♀️

🚨 Lifeguard (NLS) & Swimming Instructor Courses – Spring 2026 🚨

We’re excited to have both the National Lifeguard (NLS) and Swimming Instructor courses this spring!

Both courses will be delivered in a hybrid format, combining online learning with in-person training!

⚠️ Important: Full commitment is required. All coursework must be completed by June 15th.

🏊 About the Course

These courses are for strong, confident swimmers who are ready to build skills, gain certifications, and step into leadership roles around the pool!

You will need to complete these physical standards:

>Swim 15m, dive down, recover a 20 lb (9kg) object, and carry it 5m
>Swim 15m underwater
>Swim 50m head-up (face out of the water)
>Swim 25m, recover a submerged person, and carry them 25m
>Swim 400m in 10 minutes
>Swim 15m head-up to a distressed swimmer and carry them 5m while keeping their head above water

✅ Prerequisites

For NLS (National Lifeguard):
Must be 15 years old by the end of the course
Current Bronze Cross

For LSI (Lifesaving Instructor):
Minimum 16 years old
Current Bronze Cross

(All certifications are through the Lifesaving Society)

Spring is finally here and we’re excited to have you back at the pool! 🌸🏊

For the most part, our Spring schedule is the same as the Winter but please review the times below! We’re looking forward to great Spring and would love to see everyone back at the pool for our final session before summer!Our updated price list and schedule are below and will come into effect starting Monday, April 13th!

We also wanted to share a quick update regarding pricing. As per recent guidance, a 14% HST is required on purchases for individuals over the age of 14. To keep things simple and transparent, all of our prices are now listed with tax included where applicable!

Payment can be made online through the form or in person at the pool. If paying in person, just skip the payment section and submit the form so we can hold your spot!

Session Details:
Lessons run for 10 weeks with no planned closures. We’re aiming to stay right on schedule through June.

What to Bring:
• Bathing suit
• Towel
• Long hair tied back

We have lifejackets (PFDs) available if needed!

Goggles are allowed (eye goggles only). We encourage swimmers to practice blowing bubbles through their nose, so mask-style goggles (covering the nose) are not permitted unless for medical reasons!

Please note:
Arm floats, puddle jumpers, and similar devices are not allowed during lessons, as they can create false confidence and slow down skill development!

Due to weather and poor road conditions, the pool will be closed for the morning swim (7:30–8:30 AM) on Saturday, April 4th.

Please note: this is ONLY for the morning swim.

We will reopen at 11:00 AM, and the rest of the day will run as scheduled:
• All parties are still on
• Public swims at 12:30 PM and 4:30 PM are still happening
