Well the lounge is vacant and the ice house is clear of ice. The 2025/26 season is over and done. I hope you got enough curling this season and enjoyed yourself on and off the ice. If you did, spread the word about our club, if you didn't contact a member of the board and let us know how things could have been better.
I hope you all have a terrific summer and we look forward to seeing you back next season.
Hurry Hard!

Thank you Harold for organizing this successful toiletry drive. Just another example of SCC supporting our community.

A big thank you to Harold, one of our Board Members, and everyone at the Sutton Curling Club for their amazing support this spring.

Through a toiletry drive in March and April, Club members donated nearly 180 lbs of essentials — from laundry soap to razors and more. The Club also gave $200 from the Presidents' Bonspiel fees to buy even more needed items.

In total, the Sutton Curling Club donated almost $1000 worth of toiletries to support our neighbours. Thank you all for your generosity 💚

Well that's a wrap for the curling season at SCC. We held our AGM (annual general meeting) last Sunday and recapped the previous season and planned for future seasons. Part of our meeting included recognition pins for members that have seen a lot of changes at SCC.
Members with 50 plus years of curling that attended the meeting and received their pins, where:
Tom & Bonnie Glover
Lynda Howe
Please join me in congratulating these dedicated members and thanking them for all that they do and have done at SCC.
Here's to many more years of membership!

Another Thursday and another throwback to about 13 years ago. These young bon vivants look very sporty in their matching uniforms. Believe it or not but those sweaters and most of those curlers can be seen on the ice today...maybe even tonight!

A Look Back: The Opening of the Sutton Curling Rink (1951)

Did you know our club officially opened in 1951 after less than a year of planning and construction? What makes it even more impressive is that it was built with nearly 3,000 hours of volunteer labour and just over $6,200 in materials — a true community effort.

At the grand opening banquet, Building Committee Chairman J.L. Burrows presented the keys to President Art Pugsley, marking the completion of a project that was fully paid for, with no debt on the building. Even more remarkable, no member contributed more than $150.

The celebration continued at the rink with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by games featuring visiting teams from across Ontario and a local Sutton rink. With a packed lounge and ultra-fast ice, it was an exciting start to what would become a long-standing tradition of curling in our community.

From those early days to today, the spirit of volunteerism and love of the game continues to be the foundation of our club.

The season is almost over and we have had another successful year of juniors curling at SCC. Thank you Hayley Frizzell and all of the volunteers for organizing and ensuring all of our junior members have lots of fun while learning the sport of curling.
