Let's go sailing on Saturday!
The weather for tomorrow is looking pretty good with winds forecast at about 10 knots from the WNW and lots of sunshine.
Our first race of the season is a fun race around Fox Island beginning at 11am. This is a pursuit race, which means we start at slightly different times, slower rated boats starting earlier, with the aim of all finishing about the same time. It makes for an exciting finish! If you haven't raced before, come down a little earlier and we'll assign you a start time.
Following the race, about 5pm, we'll get together for a BBQ in the tent with burgers and buns provided by the club. Please bring your own salads, desserts and more, with a little extra to share!!
And it's Summer Solstice! Summer is finally here. Let's celebrate!

Summer Sailstice 2026 - Chase Race Around Fox

As you know, we have scheduled a pursuit race for Saturday, June 20 at 11am to be followed by a BBQ at the harbour.

I have joined an online group called "Summer Sailstice, An International Celebration of Sailing." This is a free to join community to celebrate the day and sailing.

There's a website (www.summersailstice.com) and they also have a presence on Facebook (summersailstice) and Instagram (summersailstice), with some sailing news (Catalina has gone under!) and more.

I signed up the club and added our race as an event. I then signed myself up and joined that event. It's easy and I hope others will join too. It should be a bit of fun!

On the web site, click on the events tab on the top menu and a map of North America will appear. Zoom into Lake Simcoe and then click on the pin for our race. Then join the event yourself by clicking on the "Login to Join this Event" button. It will take you to a sign up page.

And don't forget to race on June 20! Let's hope for a nice breeze! We can show off our club with some fun photos of the day!

See you there!

Sad news I've just heard. Jan was a member of Sail Georgina for many years and many of us kept in contact when he moved away and joined Swans. I always enjoyed seeing him at the boat show, anticipating the season ahead.
Some of us are thinking of going down to the visitation on Friday, if people want to join.
