***ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR OPPORTUNITIES***

The Atlantic Police Academy has a number of upcoming adjunct instructor opportunities. Some are longer terms of 4 months and others could be a few days:

USE OF FORCE INSTRUCTOR

The recent use of force instructor position was reposted for an indefinite term. This position requires police experience and will remain open until we find a candidate with the required qualifications as outlined in the bulletin on Holland College's website.

In the interim, we require an experienced use of force instructor to assist short term with our cadet programs for the months of September, October and November. We do have a pool of use of force adjunct instructors to draw from for shorter periods but we are seeking someone who may be interested in assisting for the full 3 months or a larger portion of that period. If someone is interested in "test driving" working at APA, this would be a great opportunity as they can easily transition to the posted full time position should they meet the qualifications.

BILINGUAL INSTRUCTORS-VARIOUS AREAS

We are seeking bilingual instructors to assist with our French Department of Fisheries and Oceans troop that starts in August 2027. The period required would depend on the course being taught, but APA's portion of this program is from September until end of November. We do currently have a small pool of bilingual instructors.

-Fi****ms instructor (portions or full period)

-Fishery Officer Investigations: 1.Notes and Reports: Lectures, Note taking, Report writing, Running associated scenarios, Marking of notes and reports (full program); 2. Interviewing, Lectures; Practice sessions, Grading mock suspect interviews (portions); 3. Court testimony: Lecture, Grading mock court (portions)

-Basic Criminal Law: Lectures, Test marking, Some scenario grading (portions)

-Drill (part time for mornings and grads and the person would need to be local)

The APA has all materials fir these programs so there is no need to develop materials. The APA has its own interview model, so anyone interested in teaching interviewing would need to attend for job shadowing and/or one on one training, depending on their experience level. We would make our English SME's available to assist anyone taking on these duties.

Ideally we would like to identify someone with the skills to cover both Law and Fishery Officer Investigations, but given the variety of specialties we can bring in multiple adjunct instructors. Knowledge of the Fisheries Act or DFO investigations is NOT required.

If you are interested and qualified for any of these opportunities please forward your resume or CV to me and I will send you the adjunct instructor form to complete. You can either be paid by APA at instructor rates or attend on behalf of your agency and they will receive training credits from APA. Either way we pay travel, meals and lodging.

🎓Our Newfoundland crew of squad 124 graduated too! We certainly missed their presence at the grad ceremony here in Summerside, but they've been officially welcomed as members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary! Don't they look sharp?! So proud of you all and wishing you all the best in your new careers! 👮‍♀️👮🚓

On August 30, cadets from the Atlantic Police Academy celebrated the successful completion of their training and the beginning of their policing careers. We are incredibly proud of your hard work, dedication, and commitment to public service.

The Atlantic Police Academy is honoured to recognize the Class of 1971 as they celebrated their 55th reunion earlier this summer.

As Squad 1, the Academy's first graduating class, they laid the foundation for generations of law enforcement and public safety professionals who followed.

Their dedication, leadership, and service have left a lasting impact on both the Academy and the communities they served. We also recognize classmates who are no longer with us, whose contributions remain an important part of the Academy's history.

The Atlantic Police Academy extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of Correctional Officers Nicolae Serban and Ramandeep Kaur Maan, who tragically lost their lives in a motor vehicle collision in Alberta while carrying out their duties, and to the family and loved ones of Kiara Mooswa, who was in their care and custody at the time. We honour their dedication, professionalism, and service, and stand in solidarity with our partners at the Correctional Service of Canada during this profound time of loss.

On behalf of the Atlantic Police Academy, we extend our deepest sympathies to the families, friends, and colleagues of the paramedics and patient involved in yesterday's tragic collision.

Our thoughts are with the entire Island EMS team and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. Our hearts go out to our emergency services partners during this incredibly difficult time.
