Huge congratulations to Matt, Colton, Brendan MacCuish, Dan Grant, Rob Gordon, and Kyle Doering — along with coaches Scott Grant and Calvin Edie — on their induction into the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame this weekend.

Honoured for their wins at the 2013 and 2016 Canadian Junior Championships and their bronze medal finishes at the 2013 and 2016 World Junior Championships.

Well deserved recognition for an incredible group. 👏🥌

The Brier champions have a new teammate. Six-time Canadian champion Mark Nichols is joining Team Matt Dunstone as their new second, replacing the retiring E.J. Harnden.

Aside from playing two years in Manitoba from 2012 to 2014, the 46-year-old Nichols has spent his entire curling career playing third for Brad Gushue in Newfoundland and Labrador, becoming one of the most decorated curlers of all-time in the process.

TEAM DUNSTONE ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF MARK NICHOLS

Team Dunstone is proud to announce that Mark Nichols will be joining Matt Dunstone, Colton Lott, and Ryan Harnden as Team Dunstone’s new Second.

A proven champion and one of the most accomplished and respected players in the game, Nichols brings a wealth of experience, elite shot-making, and a competitive edge to an already elite lineup. Matt, Colton, and Ryan are looking forward to welcoming him and taking this next step together as a team.

Matt Dunstone shared:

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Mark to the team. He’s one of the most accomplished and respected players in the game, and his experience, shot making, and competitive mindset are a perfect fit for what we’re building. As we set our sights on defending our Brier title and earning our way back to the World Championships, we believe Mark will be a huge part of helping us get there.”

Nichols added:

“After a very rewarding journey with Team Gushue, starting this new chapter with Team Dunstone feels like the perfect next step. The opportunity to join forces with Matt, Colton, and Ryan was one I couldn’t pass up.

I’m energized by the opportunity to bring my experience to an already elite lineup, and I look forward to building on the foundation they’ve established as we pursue our goals on the world stage.”

With eyes set on defending their Brier title and returning to the world stage, the next chapter for Team Dunstone starts now.

That’s the end of the road for us at the Crown Royal Players’ Championship!

This was also EJ’s last Grand Slam of his epic curling career. What an honour it has been to play along side EJ, especially for Ryan - they were never meant to be apart!

Now it’s time to get ready for the Montana’s Brier, starting February 27 in St. John’s Newfoundland! 👊🏽🥌
