Should more players contest shots like Shane Battier instead of trying to block jump shots?
Battier realized he couldn’t block Kobe’s high-release jump shot without fouling, so he focused on blocking Kobe’s vision right at the point of release to lower his shooting percentage.
Battier later admitted that the tactic was as much psychological as physical. He knew Kobe would get annoyed and try even harder to hit shots over the hand to prove it didn’t bother him
