You don’t have to be sore in order for your workout to count!

Yeah, I’m talking to you athletes! It seems like the younger you are the more you think you need to do in order to make progress. In fact, quality and consistency is going to mean way more than quantity.

So stop chasing soreness! And instead be more consistent and you’ll blow your mind with what you can accomplish over the next couple months.

Imagine having such crippling full body pain that all you could do in a day was stay in bed, fight your way up just to get fed and be lucky if you could get a couple hours of sleep uninterrupted…

That was exactly the situation in this case. Appointments at multiple pain clinics, blood panels, specialist appointments, nothing seems to give him an answer… But three months after getting back in the gym and progressively working strength and mobility, he’s back to being a functional human!

Movement is medicine!

Remember, a good coach is going to push the brakes on you and challenge your beliefs sometimes! And progress often takes way less than you think!

Fitness Myth: “You always need to do new things to make progress in your fitness”….

Nope, it’s actually the opposite! You need enough consistency with one course of action in order to get a true sense of the adaptations that are happening in the body on account of that course of action!

Honestly, this process isn’t a red carpet roll out exciting style process. It’s boring, monotonous, and thankless… until you start seeing the results!!

And yes, of course there is a time to switch things up and try something new. It’s also OK just to do random things if you enjoy doing them. But, if you are looking for specific adaptations, you need that consistency to a plan!

Wednesday wins! Health and fitness is an incredible practice to work into somebody’s life… But never forget, the job is never over.

As we get older, we will slow slowly lose performance, health, and fitness if we don’t change. That’s the downward pressure of aging. What works for us when younger often doesn’t work for us as we age. Hence, none of us can get away with eating pop, tarts, cereal, and candy all the time like we may have as kids!

John is a screaming example of someone who has done a great job of making strategic changes as time goes on so that he can maintain and build on his health and fitness.

Story time and a huge win, where it wasn’t expected in the first place.

Jordan brought his son Logan in about eight months ago, wanting to set the fundamentals for physical development and specifically for Hockey performance.

Now, Jordan has turned this into an amazing bonding experience for him and Logan. He’s also gained 10 pounds plus of muscle, posture is improving, aches and pains relieving, energy improving.

He and his son are crushing it together. And he’s modelling the way.

Remember, you don’t have to be perfect to model the way. You just have to be improving and putting in the work!

If you’re in the market for a personal trainer/health coach, make sure you find one with a genuine love, curiosity, and warmth for people! That’s what I try to bring to the gym every single day when I walk through the portal that is the door. And what I found along the way, is that I genuinely have that for people. As much as I love the actual aspects of programming and training, the most interesting parts to me have been all about the people that come to see me, their life, histories, and psychology!

More does not mean better!!

The more experience I have in the gym, the more I realize that a minimum effective dose mentality is necessary. That way we can avoid burnout, truly get high-quality movement and training sessions, and be consistent for long periods of time. This creates sustainable adaptation. Not intensity and volume alone !
