Sit all day? Do this before you start swinging.
A lot of us spend hours at a desk, in the car, or sitting at work and then expect our hips to immediately produce powerful kettlebell swings.
Before you train, try these half-kneeling hip flexor pumps.
Get into a half-kneeling position with your stance squared.
Stack your torso over the pelvis and keep the down knee underneath the hip.
Then create a posterior pelvic tilt—think belt buckle toward your ribs.
You should already feel the stretch through the front of the hip and possibly into the quad.
Place your hands on your lower back to make sure you’re not simply arching through the lumbar spine.
From there, gently move the hips forward for about 10 controlled pumps per side.
Keep the pelvis tucked and let the movement come from the hip.
Then stand up and retest your swings.
You may notice the hip extension feels smoother and less restricted.
Don’t just stretch. Open the position, then use it.
Strength is a skill.
Power to You. đź’Ş
