Mattspoint Tennis

Mattspoint Tennis Mattspoint is a tennis training resource for coaches & players, including the latest in sport science research & training videos.

Coach Matt Kuzdub offers on and off court tennis training to maximize performance & prevent injury. Mattspoint is about bridging the gap between tennis & sport science. As a coach, I use a research backed approach to both evaluate a player and train them to maximize on-court tennis performance. Years of coaching have also helped me discern what approaches work best for each player. On top of that,

as a former competitive player, I know what players are going through and the stresses associated with elite tennis.

I was recently, why submax instead of max throws?

Max are still great and useful, but there are reasons to include MORE submax throws, relative to max.

Read through + save these variations and try them before your next on-court session.

There are some tennis peeps out there that are simply overdoing it on court.

Ball after ball, hour after hour.

Tons of volume, zero quality.

Why not flip the script!?!

Train less but with more purpose, higher intensity and more quality.

Then, when it’s time to rest, just take it easy and you’ll recover + adapt to that training (and actually get better!!)

Again, full-body is NOT the only way.

In fact, it can be detrimental if you’re playing a fair bit (and your tennis sessions are demanding).

Try this training split for a few weeks and decide for yourself!

Pump up those quads tennis folks!

Your (tennis) life will improve, I promise 😍.

They’ll make you believe it’s bad for your shoulder (it’s the opposite).

Or that it’s not ‘specific’ (just practice your serve FGS).

Or that you’ll get too big (never seen it happen).

Or that it’s not important (they are weak).

Or some other fear instilling statement.

BUT, if you want your serve to feel juiced up, start pressing!
