First use case of my university degree…. And it’s to make a rubber fish. Thanks tuition….

Inlaying some custom designs of various fish species for this playground surfacing project! Here is Ontario’s largest freshwater lake species the sturgeon!

Turn your sound on! Then look at what we’re actually building.

Most home gyms are rolled mats or rubber tiles. This one was custom blended on site, in charcoal, mid-grey, light grey and pearl, to match the black and white running through the rest of the house.

It’s troweled by hand over a sealed subfloor. No seams, no tiles, no edges lifting. A gym floor that belongs in the house it’s in.

Why am I wearing VR goggles on a playground?

A local artist designed this sturgeon for the community’s playground. My job was to bring it to life in rubber, exactly as drawn. The goggles let me see the design blown up over the ground, so every chalk line landed in the right place.

Then it was troweled on by hand, colour by colour. The rubber goes down like wet kinetic sand, and no two colours can blend. One blurred edge and it stops looking like a fish.

3 hours later, the kids got a giant sturgeon with a hopscotch built right into it.

This customer tried sourcing the same tiles they had down but could not match them. Any repairs would leave their pool deck looking patchy and at best they are still left with a slippery pool deck for their kids.

They came across us and found two options for their indoor pool that would make it safer for kids, look nicer than tile and require almost zero demolition and mess.

That was our rubber and stone surfacing. They opted for the stone look, which still allowed water to drain through the surface, giving them safety for the kids and the look they loved!

The biggest delight people get with rubber is finding out they do not have to tear out all of their concrete. Some backyards have thousands of square feet of concrete. That means weeks and weeks of mess and a huge bill.

While rubber isn’t a cheap product it is less mess and less of an investment of time and money to fix your concrete surfaces.

Typical jobs are 1-2 days! Thats great for the contractor and the customer!

17 years of trial and error, and there’s still nowhere to learn it properly. So we’re teaching it.

2 days, hands-on with the crew you see on this page. Last winter, contractors came in from Georgia to Nova Scotia.
