How awesome has this summer been?

We were so happy to welcome back so many international rafters this year! The water levels were epic almost the whole summer and our team had a wonderful time taking all of the new and returning rafters down the Kicking Horse River

Happy Long Weekend!

What a wonderful time of year to head out on the Kicking Horse River for a bit of whitewater rafting!

The river is that gorgeous glacial blue, the air is fresh and bright, and the rapids are fun and technical!

The end of summer doesn't mean the end of fun here in Golden, British Columbia. There are still many things to enjoy here!

One of the things Golden is know for (other than rafting on the Kicking Horse River) is the spectacular mountain biking! September typically has some of the best weather for biking and there are so many options that 3 different trail networks provide.

Did you know rafting on the Kicking Horse River is one of the top family activities for Golden, BC?

Finding things to do with kids while travelling can sometimes be a bit difficult but we're here to help.

Our Family Adventure trip starts in Yoho National Park in the morning and continues down the Kicking Horse River to our private Riverside BBQ spot. Everyone gets to enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch before returning back to our base.

Afterwards the whole family can head over to the Golden Skybridge and have fun on the huge playground in the beautiful plaza then choose your adventure as you go over both bridges.

The next morning head up to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and take the Grizzly Bear interpretive tour to see and learn more about Boo the resident bear.

School is going back soon but there are a few more days of summer left.

What are your plans to end the summer?

The Kicking Horse River gets to a very cool technical level in late summer with bright blue water and brilliant views.

It's definitely worth a visit during the last blast of summer.

There are many trip options to choose from and our most popular trip is the full-day Whitewater Discovery that includes both the Upper and Middle Sections of the Kicking Horse River. And did we mention the Riverside BBQ Lunch? With Veggie and Gluten Free options.

Are you a geology buff?

Rafting the Kicking Horse River gives you a close up look at some of the natural wonders of Yoho National Park and the west end of the Canadian Rockies.

Limestone Dolomite sedimentary rock faces show the folding that occurred during the Laramide orogeny, between 80 million and 55 million years ago. During this period the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate collided causing the mountains to form and start to fold in on themselves like pushing the edge of a rug along the floor.

Seeing all of those layers up close as you raft pass is a humbling experience. Nature in all of its majestic glory.

Other things on that list might be zipining, seeing a grizzly bear, downhill mountain biking, sky diving, paragliding, climbing a mountain.⁠

Guess what? You can actually do all of those things in Golden, British Columbia!⁠

Road trips and whitewater rafting ⁠go together like peanut butter 🥜 and jelly !

Taking a road trip to Golden through any of the National Parks surrounding our beautiful town is an unforgettable experience.

Stopping at the Giant Cedars Boardwalk, Takakkaw Falls or Vermillion Crossing should be on everyones itinerary!

Have you ever been on a glacially fed river or lake?

There are many within a couple hours drive from Golden BC, especially in Yoho National Park and Banff National Park.

We are so grateful to be able to raft the Kicking Horse river and experience this phenomenon every year.
