7U Coordinator Gareth shared the following with us:

⚾️⚾️

The U7 Collingwood Blue Jays local league 2026 season has come to a close. The two teams played 15 weeks straight of baseball, with miraculously only one rain out. The kids excelled and developed a ton this season, getting up to 38 mph on the pitching machine, fielding great plays on the infield and making new friendships and memories together . Big thank you to the coaches Brandon, Jeff, Wes, David, Jill, Troy and Jamie for all your help in 2026. See you next spring!

The story celebrates Bob, an Oshawa grandfather who went above and beyond to coach the Okamoto Jays, making the 2½-hour round trip every Sunday to be there for his grandson and his teammates.

Thank you, Bob, for coming out and coaching the Okamoto Jays, for the baseball cards you hand out, and most of all, for sharing your love of the game with our kids. ❤️

Your grandsons, their friends and their families will always remember their first summer playing ball — and you helped make it special.
