Volunteering doesn’t just help a nonprofit — it strengthens the people who keep it alive.
Today, Dunnill’s Diving Services stepped up at the Lakeland Humane Society. Not because we had to, but because organizations like this one need me and you.
Staff burnout is real in animal care. You can only witness so much suffering, so much need for love, before it starts to wear you down. That’s why volunteers matter. They’re the extra hands, the extra heartbeats, the extra hope that keeps the animals healthy and the staff supported.
And helping doesn’t require anything extraordinary. It looks like:
• Walking the dogs — giving them exercise, confidence, and joy
• Quiet time with the cats and puppies — reminding them they’re safe and loved
• Pitching in with maintenance — keeping the buildings and grounds in good shape so staff can focus on care
We all have the desire to help someone or something. So why not help here?
Remember: the smallest deed outshines the greatest intention.
See you out there.
