Two days ago, headaches had me closing my office curtains and sitting in the dark. At home, off screens, in bed by 8pm.

Yesterday my RMT told me the pain in my arm is an overextended muscle and pecs so tight they're limiting my range of motion. Ice, rest, specific exercises. I'll be back to normal soon.

And somewhere in the back of my mind, a voice keeps saying: Kelly, you spent a day flat on your back with a headache. Now you're sitting in a lawn chair watching Lynn pile wood.

Stop being so lazy. Get up and help.

I teach boundaries and rest and listening to your body for a living. And I'm still fighting that voice like everyone else.

I don't know yet how the weekend goes from here. I just know the voice is lying, even when it's loud.

“My team is capable. So why does everything still end up coming back to me?”

Every question.
Every decision.
Every problem that needs solving.

By the end of the day, this leader was exhausted, while a very capable team was still looking to them for answers.

As we talked, I noticed a pattern.

When someone brought them a problem, they solved it.

Not because they didn’t trust their team.

Because it was faster.

So I asked:

“What would happen if you stopped giving them the answer and started asking them for theirs?”

That’s where the conversation shifted.

Being the person with all the answers can feel like good leadership. But if your team always comes to you to do the thinking, you’re not building their confidence to think, decide and problem-solve without you.

Sometimes the most useful thing you can say when someone brings you a problem is:

“What do you think we should do?”

Then be quiet long enough to let them answer.

Leadership isn’t about being needed for every decision.

It’s about building people who don’t need you for every decision.

We are trying something new and exciting… well, new and calming ☺️
Starting Monday September 14th , our Monday hours will be changing. We will be open from 12 - 5 PM with the exception of a monthly dinner and movie night from 5 - 8 PM.

We want to take this time to provide a quiet space and calmer environment. This will give us time to have more one on one time with the youth who need it.

What will this look like?
✨ Soft music
✨ Snacks
✨ Low lighting
✨ Quieter activities
✨ Time to rest and reset
✨ More options for peer support

We will also begin hosting our monthly clothing event, and guardian support day every 3rd Monday of the month from 12 - 5 PM.

Your team doesn’t need another presentation they’ll forget by Monday.

They need tools they use when the meeting gets tense.
When expectations aren’t clear.
When boundaries start slipping.
When the pressure keeps building and everyone is running on fumes.

That’s what I bring into the room.

My One Toolbox Leadership™ workshops and interactive keynotes are built around practical leadership tools that travel with people beyond the event, into their teams, their homes, and their communities.

Together we will get comfortable with Boundaries. Communication. Consistency. Resilience.

Not as four more things to add to an already full plate, but as connected tools that help create more clarity, steadiness and room to breathe.

Because resilience isn’t about asking people to keep pushing through.

It’s about giving them better tools for how they lead through what’s already on their plate.

I’m now booking Fall 2026 workshops, leadership events and interactive keynotes across Atlantic Canada.

If you’re planning a conference, professional development day, leadership retreat or team event, I’d love to talk about what your people actually need.

"When does life slow down? I can't keep going on like this."

Your days get busier and busier.
Your constant to-do list never gets done.
You're depleted, and there is no time to recharge.

This is what happens when you don't know how to say "no".

I will teach you to set simple boundaries, communicate them, and hold your life in your own hands, not in everyone else's.

Reach out for a free exploratory call and let's talk boundaries.

See you in Halifax on September 26th.

You’re tired of being the person everyone can count on.

Not because you don’t care.

Because somehow, being dependable turned into being constantly available.

You answer the message.
Take the extra meeting.
Pick up what someone else dropped.
Say yes because saying no feels harder.

And by the time you get home, the people you love get whatever energy is left.

That’s not a time-management problem.

It’s a boundary problem.

And here’s the part we often miss:

A boundary you only have in your head isn’t a boundary other people can honour.

It has to be communicated.
It has to be clear.
And it has to be maintained, especially when someone pushes against it.

That’s why Boundaries that Protect is one of the four tools inside One Toolbox Leadership™.

Because boundaries aren’t about shutting people out.

They protect your time, your energy, your relationships, and your ability to keep showing up without quietly resenting everyone who needs something from you.

Try this today:

Before you automatically say yes, ask yourself:

“Do I actually have the capacity for this, or am I saying yes because I’m uncomfortable saying no?”

That question can change a lot.

You don’t need to become less caring.

You need to stop making your own capacity the price of caring for everyone else.

Tell me: Where is one boundary you know you need to make clearer?
