Starting tomorrow August 25th 2026 we will be starting our new going out of business sale at Mat's bait and tackle located at 27 young street in Capreol Ontario.

Come stock up on Christmas gifts (Christmas is only 4 months away people!) birthday gifts, fathers day gifts or even a spoil yourself gift just because you can.

We want to thank everyone for their support during this time as we navigate our closing after making the decision to originally stay open. This community have brought us lots of new friends and given us the chance to get involved, but most of all it showed us how amazing this community is and we cant say thank you enough.

Like it has been said, eventually we will be planning to do a mobile unit and hopefully in the future we will be able to get back into a store front when things are better within our lives, but until then... come and stock up while you can because our loss is your gain and we want you to take advantage of these great savings and enjoy yourself fishing!

Unfortunately my health is no longer good enough I will be closing the store everything is 25% off i will not be back but my sister and brother inlaw who you have all come to know well while ive been trying to get healthy will be working there until the end of September.
This is not what I wanted to do but is sadly what I need to do.
I will have a mobile fishing store out of a custom 18 foot trailer that I will be operating once I am better, i will still sell minnows and leeches and worms full time even after I close shop.
This is the end of our store at 27 young street but not the end of Matt's bait and tackle!

Were gonna be closed this week I've been having lots of health issues constant dr visits, emerge trips and more ive been lucky enough to have my sister and brother in law helping me with the store but theyre busy this week and right now I need to be with my daughters my son my pets and wife.
Were really sorry for the inconsistencies in our hour's, being closed when we should be open etc
I never expected these issues to arise but here they are and that has to be my priority.

Just a heads up to all of our valued customers, we will be remaining closed for tomorrow August 6th 2026 but will be opening up again as of Friday August 7th 2026 as normal.

Today while at Sturgeonfalls Chrysler we came across this "driven for Noah" and we knew that we had to donate to help out.

Noah is nearly 4 years old and has spent most of his life between the hospital for sick children and Ronald McDonald House charities with only a handful of months even spent at home. Noah was born prematurely at 33 weeks old with a rare genetic disorder called autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease and at just 5 weeks old Noah underwent one of his first surgeries followed by many more.

As their state policy at Ronald McDonald House is coming to an end, no one his mother will need to relocate and find other living accommodations near sick kids so Noah can continue receiving the critical care that he depends on so much and we want to try to help in any way we can.

So tomorrow for Capreol Days 2.0 we have spoken to sturgeon falls Chrysler and got the go-ahead to put a donation sheet at our store for the event. You can donate by cash or card at our store which will be brought up to the Sturgeonfalls Chrysler or you can choose to e-transfer to the charity at [email protected]

When you donate in person you will get a slip with your name on it and it will be put up at the Sturgeonfalls Chrysler to show your support for Noah and his family and show them that everyone has their back.
