We are sad to share that a pivotal member of our volunteer team, Stan Finnson passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026

He was the Ambassador for the club for many years and ensured that all were always welcomed with open arms. He loved to chat and share stories of the evolution of the ski club. We will keep his memory alive by continuing to strive for continued excellence for all to enjoy.

2026 Civic Award for Volunteerism

Our group was nominated by Councillor Natalie Labbee for the volunteer award in the Recreation, Sport and Leisure category.

These awards are presented to individuals and/or groups for meritorious service, voluntary contributions, personal efforts and exemplary community development within Greater Sudbury.

The following criteria were considered in the selection process:

⁃ Length of volunteer service
⁃ Enrichment of spirit
⁃ Lasting legacy
⁃ Leadership
⁃ Exceptional service.

We are honoured to be the recipient of this award and be recognized for the many years of volunteer work by our members.

Capreol cross country ski club
March 27, 2026

Who would of thought that with record snowfall, we would be calling it a season. The road into the club is very narrow and has not recently been plowed. We appreciate the city keeping our road safe all winter and know they have their hands full opening up streets all over the region.

So to keep everyone safe, we have decided not to reopen the chalet.

We want to thank you all for your continued support of our ski club by being dedicated members, attending our events and sharing your compliments with people around our community. We had many newcomers come out this season and share that »they heard so many good things about Capreol club, they wanted to come out and see for themselves ».

We could not have done all the above without the excellent team of volunteers we have. Excellent groomers who were always available to provide us with pristine groomed trails. Canteen staff who were busy making chili, muffins and butter tarts to keep you all fed. We thank them all for their dedicated commitment to make the ski club the GEM that it is for our community.

Again, THANK YOU and see you all next season.

WE are unable to open the chalet as the road to the chalet is dangerous ,icy, and not plowed.
Trails are VG condition.
We have contacted 311.

Update- Thursday, March 26, 2026

The chalet is closed. Use of the trails is available but be aware that the plow has not cleaned the road into the chalet yet. Use at your own risk.
