A message from Jona:

By now most of you have probably heard, I've taken over ownership of the gym.

I want to say a genuine thank you! Over the past six months, so many of you have shared support, advice, and encouragement, and it's meant more than you know.

I feel very lucky that my job is running this place which is filled with the best community I have ever met.

Nothing is changing day to day, same hours, same space, same member access. But I do have some big plans for where we go from here.

It’s official! Our long-term manager Jona Hackett is the new owner of CCG 🔥

It took us a few months to finalize this next stage but today is the day!

Jona is deeply passionate about this community and has been instrumental in our success over the past few years already, so this feels like a natural transition; another step in the right direction. He’s excited to contribute to the future of CCG in a more meaningful way, and has already introduced some awesome upgrades this year. We know we’re leaving the gym in the best hands 🙌

The founders - Sonnie, Bart, Nick, Ben and Cam - are so proud of what we’ve all built together over the past 5 years and really stoked for this new chapter for our community.

It has always been our intention to build something that’s more than a training facility - we wanted to create a gathering hub for our mountain community. We love seeing you fill this small, scrappy space with the best energy, and we’re proud that CCG is thriving 🫶 It’s been such a blast to be a part of it from the beginning!

Congrats Jona, we can’t wait to see where you take us next. We know this community will just keep growing. See you around the gym! 👊

Some of you spotted it. Some of you didn’t. Either way, it’s been there the whole time. Happy 5 years. ✨️

When we worked with .oosterhoff on the anniversary merch, we wanted something with a bit of mystery to it. She came up with the idea of making the character look like a 5, subtle enough that you might miss it, intentional enough that once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

Five years ago, three local climbers opened a bouldering gym in Canmore because there wasn’t one. Simple as that.

It wasn’t fancy at the start. Fewer problems, no upstairs, and a grand opening right in the middle of COVID, time slots, uncertainty, everyone just figuring it out one day at a time.
But people showed up. And kept showing up.

The space has grown. The setting has gotten sharper. The community has become something we’re genuinely proud of, a mix of early risers, weekend warriors, van-lifers, and everyone in between, all sharing the same walls and somehow making it feel like home.

Five years in, we’re grateful. For the problems that humbled us, the members who stuck around, and the town that made room for something like this.
