Big weekend for our club! 🙌

Skaters Yang and Sofia represented Banff Canmore Speed Skating at the Provincial Championships in Lloydminster this past weekend. Competing against some of the top skaters in the province, they showed determination, focus, and great sportsmanship on the ice.

We’re proud of the effort and growth you both demonstrated—way to represent the club! 💪

Great turnout at our Try It Night last night! It was awesome to see so many new faces on the ice giving speed skating a try.

A big thanks to everyone who came out — we hope to see many of you back on the ice soon!

Huge congratulations to our Banff Canmore Speed Skating athletes who represented the club at the Alberta Winter Games this weekend!

🥉 Cameron skated to a fantastic bronze medal in the 400m
🥉 Evan helped power his team to bronze in the 2000m relay

We’re proud of the hard work, determination, and racing spirit both athletes showed on the ice. Way to represent Banff Canmore Speed Skating Club!

This week, Banff Canmore Speed Skating Club was represented on the international stage at the World Masters Sprint Championships as part of Team Canada.

The competition didn’t finish as hoped, with a disqualification in the final race after contact with a puck — a reminder of how small the margins can be in sport.

Experiences like these feed directly back into our program and help shape the perspective we bring to training, racing, and athlete development at home.

It was a big weekend for our club with athletes competing on multiple fronts!

Madison took on Neo-Junior Nationals, delivering an outstanding performance and bringing home GOLD 🥇 in the Team Pursuit — an incredible achievement on the national stage!

Meanwhile, Cameron, Evan, and Coach Grant were in action at the Alberta Open, gaining valuable race experience and representing the club with strong performances and great teamwork.

So proud of everyone’s efforts and results this weekend. Way to race hard and represent!

So proud of Madison for representing our club and Team Alberta at the Neo-Junior Long Track National Competition in Quebec. An incredible opportunity to race on the national stage and compete against the best from across the country. Way to go, Madison—we’re cheering you on every stride of the way!

Try Speed Skating for FREE! 🏁 Join us for a Speed Skating Try-It Night and experience the thrill of the ice.
📅 Dates & Times:

Wednesday, Jan 14 | 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM

📍 Location: Canmore Rec Center
✅ Cost: FREE! Includes coaching and speed skate rental.
Who can join?

Ages 6+
Must be able to skate unassisted (glide & stop on any skates—hockey, figure, etc.)
Families and adults welcome!

What to bring/wear:

Sport helmet (bike, hockey, ski, snowboard)
Glasses
Leather or thick winter gloves
Neck guard with bib (we have spares!)
Long sleeves, jacket/fleece, long pants, layered clothing
Soft knee pads (bike or volleyball—spares available)

Important:

Arrive 15 minutes early for skate and gear fitting.
Parents must stay rink-side during the session for support and safety.

We had a great time participating in the Canmore Skating Club’s Holiday Skating Showcase this week! 🎄⛸️ Such a fun and well-run event, and a great opportunity for us to show off our sport. Thanks to Canmore Skating Club for inviting us and for celebrating skating in all its forms!
