Sports Garage is looking for a full-time Bike & Ski Technician to join our team in Canmore as soon as possible!
We’re a locally owned outdoor sports shop offering e-bike rentals, bike service, ski and snowboard rentals, ski/snowboard tuning, as well as retail and consignment gear.
This is a hands-on, year-round position for a customer service oriented person who is knowledgable about ski/snowboard/bike gear and who enjoys working on outdoor equipment, solving mechanical problems and helping customers get the most out of their time in the mountains.
During the winter, the role focuses primarily on ski and snowboard service, tuning and rental equipment. During the summer, the focus shifts to bike and e-bike service and maintaining our rental fleet.
Experience in both bike and ski service is ideal, but we’re happy to train the right person who has strong experience in one area and wants to learn the other.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Winter – Ski & Snowboard:
– Ski and snowboard tuning
– Base repairs and P-Tex work
– Edge sharpening and finishing
– Waxing and general equipment maintenance
– Ski and snowboard rental setup and safety checks
– Binding adjustments and service where trained/qualified
– Maintaining our ski and snowboard rental fleet
– Helping customers with equipment selection and setup
Summer – Bikes & E-Bikes:
– Bike and e-bike inspections and safety checks
– Brake and shifting adjustments
– Drivetrain maintenance and adjustments
– Tire, tube and basic tubeless repairs
– Troubleshooting mechanical issues
– Maintaining our bike and e-bike rental fleet
– Preparing rental bikes and helping customers with bike setup
You’ll also help around the shop with customers, rentals, retail and general day-to-day operations when needed.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous bike shop, ski shop or equipment technician experience
- Is mechanically inclined and enjoys working with their hands
- Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in their work
- Is comfortable troubleshooting problems independently
- Works well as part of a small team
- Is friendly and confident helping customers
- Can stay organized during busy periods
- Is reliable and able to work weekends
- Has an interest in biking, skiing, snowboarding or outdoor sports
