HAPPY CANADA DAY 🇨🇦 🏀 🍁

DID YOU KNOW… The creator of basketball, James Naismith, was Canadian!

James Naismith was born November 6, 1861, in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. He was a physical education instructor, physician, and chaplain.

He invented basketball in December 1891. Naismith’s goal was to create a new indoor sport to keep his students active during the cold winter.

The first basketball game was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets as goals. ⚽️ 🧺

Canada is a growing force in global basketball, producing NBA stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2025 NBA MVP), Jamal Murray and Andrew Wiggins - just to name a few!

So what a way to celebrate Canada, by playing basketball!
