✨ Tiny moments behind the scenes… the giggles and excitement before the camera flashes… these are the moments that become the memories our dancers carry with them for years to come. 🩰💜

Our recital photos a couple of weeks ago were filled with so much joy, friendship, encouragement, and that extra special MWDA magic. Watching dancers hype each other up, fix tutus, squeeze into little friendship circles, and celebrate together is such a beautiful reminder that dance is about so much more than steps.

Today we celebrate the strength, creativity, and confidence of girls and women everywhere.

At McDonald-Wilson Dance Academy, we are proud to watch young dancers grow into strong, capable, and confident young women - both in the studio and beyond.

Dance teaches discipline, resilience, artistry, and courage - qualities that empower our dancers for life.

There are some days in the studio that stay with you.

This was one of them.

Live drums. Sweat on the floor.

Movement that came from somewhere deeper than counts or choreography.

We were so deeply honoured to welcome Masani St. Rose, Master Papa, and an extraordinary group of drummers and artists who filled the MWDA home with the rhythm, history, and spirit of West African dance. The energy in the room was electric - grounded, joyful, powerful and created together. It was a kind of collective energy that can only happen when people come together with open hearts and curious bodies.

To everyone who stepped into this space: thank you for meeting the moment fully.

To those watching from the outside… this is the kind of magic that happens here…the kind of artistry, culture, and community we believe in cultivating here. 💜

This is why we dance.

This is why community matters.

This is why culture belongs in the room, not just on the sidelines.

This is what it looks like when dance is lived, not just taught.

✨ Happy Holidays from all of us at MWDA ✨

As we wrap up the year and head into a well-earned break, we just want to say thank you to our incredible dance families. The past few months have been full of growth, performances, special moments, and so much heart - and we’re feeling incredibly grateful.

Over the next couple of weeks, while everyone enjoys some downtime, we’ll be sharing lots of highlights, performances, and shoutouts from this past season so far - there’s so much we haven’t had a chance to celebrate yet 💜

Enjoy the holidays, soak up the rest, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the studio on January 5th.
